Kross Studio took up the challenge of the central tourbillon. Develop a mechanical complication honoring the prominent Death Star. On the surface of the Death Star-inspired Tourbillon, a green superlaser cannon stands reminiscent of the space station’s kyber crystal enabled power.

The watch itself tells us a great story of passion, craftsmanship and advanced technology. Features include the house-developed manual-winding mechanical movement that delivers a robust 5-day power reserve. Plus, the hands have been affixed to a peripheral display that orbits 360 degrees around the tourbillon. A traditional crown system has been replaced by an ingenious, inset push-button system.

Kross Studio developed a D-ring shaped crown on the case back for winding the watch. It is out of sight to help maintain the timepiece’s sleek, space-age styling. These clean lines are also preserved by cleverly hiding quick-release buttons on the underside of the case. This practical feature will doubtless be welcomed by collectors. As a result, it allows a quick change of the straps from the included calfskin leather strap to either of the two other included rubber straps.

An eminent design object with an immersive visual experience

The powerful and precious nature of the kyber crystals in the Star Wars galaxy, required them to be stored in armored crates for transport. Faithful to the film storytelling, Kross Studio conceived an official reproduction of those containers, made of wood and aluminum.

More than 700 parts were necessary to produce each container. It’s scaled to half the original film dimensions of 3.94 feet long (1.20 meters). Fully hand-assembled and hand-painted, the containers embody the iconic saga story down to the smallest detail. Every aspect of these substantial art objects, like fine sculptures, have been thoroughly conceptualized and executed. The details take the viewer into the Star Wars galaxy. As an example, the backlit manifest panel inscribed in Aurebesh script – one of the most widely used alphabets in the Star Wars galaxy.

Celebrate in our own galaxy

Star Wars iconography is subtly inserted to sublimate the whole. Thus, the esthetic Galactic Empire emblem and the push-button feature an engraving in Aurebesh script. Moreover, the hour hand takes the shape of an Imperial-Class Star Destroyer. While the minute hand appears as a Super-Class Star Destroyer. It carries no less than 38,000 stormtroopers. At last, the fixed hours wheel, filled with white superluminova “blue emission”, is inspired by the lighting halls embedded in the Imperial vessels.

This Star Wars Day collection is extremely rare. Remember, only 10 of these Death Star Collector Sets will ever be produced. Dutch shipyard brand Heesen Yachts announced the M/Y ARKADIA yacht was sold in October 2020 by David Johnson of Denison Yachting. Plus, he introduced the client and worked closely with the Heesen Yachts sales team at the shipyard in Oss, to sign the sales contract.

A go-anywhere, luxury superyacht ARKADIA is the second yacht in Heesen Yacht’s 50-metre steel displacement class. Delivering a superyacht during a pandemic is not a straightforward task. Heesen closely followed the initial Covid-19 safety measures, when announced. First, they appointed a dedicated team to manage the handover from the shipyard to the owner and his staff. With travel and meetings disrupted by the pandemic, this service has proved itself invaluable.

A true bluewater motor yacht, ARKADIA features a full-displacement, round-bilge hull design. In addition she is equipped with a drag-cheating bulbous bow, that promises superlative cruising comfort and seakeeping. The top speed of this luxury yacht is 15 knots. What is an NFT?

The recent Beeple (Mike Winkelmann) NFT art sale in March, achieved a record $69 million.  Even though the artist’s record price for a print is only $100.  The art is titled “Everydays: The First 5000 Days.“  Beeple collected approximately $55 million from the sale and Christie’s auction house received about $14 million.  This milestone makes NFTs a proven portal and the future of art sales.

NFTs now make individual art pieces unique. Jack Armstrong’s Early Years

Let’s step back for a moment and learn more about iconic artist, Jack Armstrong’s incredible, art career.

While living in New York City for 8 years, Jack personally knew and collaborated with iconic artists Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring.  In fact, Andy actually called Jack “The Last Wizard of Art.”

Armstrong refused a solo art exhibition by Leo Castelli, who was the most powerful dealer of modern art in the world.  Castelli also represented Warhol, Lichtenstein, Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns.  As a result, he held the largest roster of famous names in art in modern history.

By refusing a solo show that would have made him known in the upper echelons of the rarified world of NY art in the 1980’s, Armstrong knew that he would have to find something new & unique.  He realized that he needed to become as radical as Vincent Van Gogh’s work was in the 1880’s. History showed that Van Gogh was shunned by the art world a century before Armstrong’s “Cosmic X“.

An interesting fact is Jack’s first million dollar painting sale was to billionaire tobacco heiress, Doris Duke.  Neither Basquiat or Warhol ever sold a million dollar painting before they passed away, in 1987 & 1988 respectively.

Over the years, he has sold paintings to many famous celebrities and wealthy people.  His most expensive “Cosmic X” sales are to a Chinese billionaire and Alice Walton (Walmart heiress).

100 Original “Cosmic X” paintings were created over a 21 year period, after Armstrong repurchased his early works (painted in NYC from 1979-1994).  When they were back in his possession, he shockingly burned them all.  He told me that nothing would stop him from becoming the rarest painter in modern art history.  The reason is due to the limited number of works available for sale and in the originality of a new style of art, that would take him almost 3 decades to discover and create.

The “Cosmic X” Era

In 1999, Jack Armstrong founded a new style of art and named it “Cosmic X.”  He believes cosmic Extensionalism is a direct universal transcendence, in art and in the artist.

The Ultrathin Tourbillon Dragon & Phoenix merges ancient mythology with ancient minerals. Luxury watch brand Arnold & Son added new dimension to its thinnest tourbillon line. Each of the five versions are limited to just five pieces each, Plus, they present a different hardstone dial. Named after John Arnold, English watchmaker of the 18th century is widely renowned, for his ingenuity and work on marine chronometers. Therefore, Arnold & Son perpetuates its legacy today. They continue to explore contemporary ways to interpret traditional watch craftsmanship. The luxury watchmaker is based in La Chaux-de-Fonds, cradle of the Swiss watchmaking industry. Also, Arnold & Son develops its timepieces in-house including its complicated calibers.

Miniature works of art

Arnold & Son references the myth of the Dragon and the Phoenix, expressed in the highest horological art. Interesting to note, Chinese myth holds that these fantastic creatures were neighbors who decided to make a pearl together. One using its talons while the other using its teeth. The jewel became the extraordinary product of their equally impressive magic powers. Stolen by the mother of the Jade Emperor, the pearl fell down from the heavens and the creatures rushed to catch it in mid-air. As a result, this pearl of wisdom and fertility is the essence of the Ultrathin Tourbillon Dragon & Phoenix tale.

The two beasts are depicted by two expressive, precious, and finely worked miniature sculptures. They hug the dial on both sides. Complete with scales, feathers, spurs, teeth, beaks, and manes, they have been entirely crafted from solid rose gold and engraved by hand. In the dragon’s claws is the mythological pearl, here crafted in strong and lustrous mother-of-pearl. Products of geology

Each of the five Ultrathin Tourbillon Dragon & Phoenix models features a dial, made from a different hardstone. The five colored minerals employed (Bronzite, Eudialyte, Marcasite, Pietersite, and Verdite) were chosen for their evocative properties. In addition, they are richly textured, visually complex surfaces.

Bronzite features pearlescent, red, and black inclusions that stand out against predominantly beige tones. Black and grey Marcasite appears scattered with outgrowths, like stones emerging from a flat landscape. Next, deep blue-grey Pietersite offers cloud-like iridescence. Lastly, Verdite, meanwhile, reveals a bright, shifting green, and within the intense field of Eudialyte, white veins ripple and mottle its purplish, gradient surface.

Proportions

Each of these versions comes with a large-scaled alligator skin strap that coordinates with the dial. It is topstitched with 18-carat gold thread. Plus, the strap attaches to a 5N red gold case that measures 42 mm in diameter. Astonishingly, the thin profile incorporates the tourbillon calibre of the Ultrathin Tourbillon Dragon & Phoenix.

Each timepiece simultaneously offers accurate timekeeping. Featuring a refined skeletonized structure, mechanical nobility and symmetrical architecture. The symmetry of the pieces even extends to the domed sections. Hence, the skeletonized tourbillon bridge slightly protrudes from the dial. It is level with the off-centered dial, which is also domed.

Mechanical lacework

Under each rare stone dial lies the A&S8200 calibre. Measuring 2.97 mm thick, it is one of the thinnest ever to be regulated by a tourbillon. The A&S8200 calibre was entirely developed, produced, decorated, assembled, adjusted, and finished within the walls of the brand’s manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

This calibre is based on a large barrel with an oscillation frequency of 3 Hz. Hence providing a 90-hour power reserve that is extremely rare for a tourbillon, especially given its thinness. In addition, the structure is refined further still by the skeletonized tourbillon bridge. Also notice the unique, hand engraving on the rear tourbillon bridge. Fascinating to see, the light passes through the Ultrathin Tourbillon Dragon & Phoenix. Another nightlife destination in Las Vegas is about to re-open. Hakkasan Las Vegas inside MGM Grand is owned by Global hospitality company Hakkasan Group. This nightclub is located on the world famous Las Vegas Strip.

Due COVID-19 restrictions, Hakkasan Nightclub will make a change and resume operations as a lounge. But nightclub reservations are required for hotel and non-hotel guests. Also, no general admission is permitted under current, Nevada restrictions.

Due to health and safety protocols at the forefront, the venue has moved to a touchless menu system. Access is available via a scannable QR code from cell phones. In addition, VIP tables will be separated. Therefore, this allows for physical distancing. Plus, strict cleaning plans will be fully implemented.
