They were never designed with security or privacy in mind… they are simply not fit for purpose and should not be used at all in any form for delivery of sensitive information, travel or event tickets or health passport.
QR codes can be subject to a process called ‘Attagging’ or ‘cloning.’ The process of ‘Attagging’ is where a ‘genuine QR code’ is replaced by a ‘cloned QR code’ which then redirects the person scanning that code to a similar website where personal data can be intercepted and breached. The problem is that serious that in India alone there are over 1 BILLION fraudulent financial transactions each day using QR codes. As the scanning user journey is the same, it is only tech savvy individuals that may notice the domain name has changed.”
As reported by a recent Forbes Magazine investigation, it is predicted that over 11 Million households in the US alone will scan a QR code this year and the majority of them, some 71% of people who have interacted with a QR code will not know if it is the start of a malicious hack. It is envisaged that over 5.3 Billion QR codes will be redeemed this year making it one of the fastest growing tech scanning interactions and also posing one of the greatest cyber threats.
QR codes can be cloned and redirected to other information points or websites. Often criminals and hackers will exploit this by putting a fake QR code over a genuine QR code. So a QR code for example on scanning would link to the genuine website www.similardomain.com but a fake QR code can be made up printed off and placed over the genuine code to redirect to www.similar-domain.com at this point the member of the public is tricked into entering their personal information, private data and financial information. The rogue website looks and feels exactly like the genuine one and is made to mirror it precisely.
VCode® which is the ultra secure digital code which powers the V-Health Passport™ cannot be cloned. Even if it was printed off, or a photograph was taken and placed over a VCode® or V-Health Passport™ it simply wont scan as it works on a call and response system of information between the code and web platform to verify location of the code, user ID and time and date and much more.”

Popular, luxury brand Jaquet Droz has introduced new, luxury watches to honor the upcoming 2021 Chinese New Year. These Jaquet Droz watches are a result of art meeting tradition. The limited series watch collection honors the 2021 Chinese New Year – the year of the Ox.

Jaquet Droz has integrated two artisanal techniques for these four watch models. They are miniature painting and relief engraving. The miniature painting variation, on Ivory Grand Feu enamel dials, depicts a pastoral scene with a peaceful ox surrounded by misty mountains. Also, this painted dial is housed in two 18kt red gold cases, one in 35mm with diamonds (1.23 carats) and a 41mm without. On the caseback, both watches also feature hand-engraved 18kt red gold oscillating weights which take the form of an ox.
The two models in relief engraving, depict an ox which appears to be leaping out of the dial. As a result, the ox seamlessly moves across the pitch-black onyx background towards the 18kt gold plum tree. The tree includes twenty seven red ruby blossoms. Plentiful symbolism can be seen here. For example, the plum tree symbolizes the harmony between humans and nature, the earth and the sky. Continuing, the rubies represent bravery and victory, which are values close to the ox’s heart.
One watch model is crafted in red gold and the other in white gold. You will notice a gem-set bezel and lugs, both 41mm in diameter. Like on the dials, the Ateliers d’Art also engraved the oscillating weights with the head of an ox on an onyx background.
Jaquet Droz truly believes gold is the only metal worthy of the ox. Therefore, three pieces come in red gold and one in white gold. The Maison selected two distinctive artisanal techniques to represent the new zodiac sign. First, a miniature painting appears on two 35 mm x 41 mm timepieces. It features a majestically peaceful ox against a background of mist-covered mountains. A handpainted and softly serene pastoral scene.
This pair of Petite Heure Minute watches provide an ample canvas for micro-painting. First is a 35 mm ladies’ version with a gem-set bezel and lugs. Second is a 41 mm version without gems. As for the case-back, the first one’s oscillating weight is personalized with a red gold appliqué. The second one has an 18-karat open-worked rotor that is hand-engraved.
Each of these four handcrafted compositions of the new Petite Heure Minute Buffalo watch collection are exclusively being released in a series of eight.
As previously mentioned, these new compositions ring in the New Year under the Chinese zodiac sign of the Ox. Legend has it that the Jade Emperor chose the animals in the 12-year zodiac cycle based on a race. The ox is portrayed carrying a rat on its back, which is ultimately how the rat won the race.

This Holiday Season, Enjoy Christmas in Prague
In past years, December used to be a very busy month for Prague. Christmas in Prague is a special time. But due to the COVID-19 virus, things have changed. Luckily, visitors are still able the Czech capital and enjoy this holiday season.
Prague has a lot to offer. There are many options for holiday shopping. The historic city is popular for travelers to experience bustling Christmas markets. Hence, enjoy picture-perfect backdrop of Gothic towers, softly glowing gas lamps, and the scent of mulled wine permeating frosty air.
What can you expect this year? Definitely a more low-key, authentic holiday season. As a result, Christmas in Prague this year will see the city will forego the famous Christmas market in Old Town Square. But the historic square still looks stunning. The undisputed culinary hit of this year’s holiday season is a novel dessert created by pâtissier Olga Budnik. She owns the Black Madonna café in the Old Town. This striking dessert, a chocolate globe covered with the telltale spikes of a coronavirus. It’s made of white chocolate and dried raspberries. It is fittingly named “Virus.”

Hacking & Identity Theft – 7 Tips for Protecting Your Identity & Money
It’s a non-stop topic in today’s news. No, not COVID-19 but identity theft. Hacking is big business for thieves. Just go back and consider the result of two examples. At least 110 million consumers have been affected by the hack involving Target and Neiman Marcus retailers.
Millions more will have their identities manipulated and finances ruined within the coming months. Due to additional breaches of security at other stores is anyone’s guess. With the holiday season upon us, please be safe. Identity theft recovery expert Scott A. Merritt states,
“By necessity, I became an expert on identity theft. My information was stolen in 2006, and in repairing the damage, I learned some not-so-obvious ways we can all protect against identity theft in the first place,” says Merritt, CEO of Merritt & Associates (scottamerritt.com) and author of “Identity Theft Do’s and Don’ts.”
Merritt’s problems began quickly. For example, while disputing financial charges and dealing with resulting business problems, in 2007 he was stopped for a traffic violation. As a result, he was arrested on a false outstanding felony warrant. He immediately knew why.
“I had to enlist my U.S. congressman and convince the state police, NCIC, FBI and Secret Service that I didn’t commit the felonies. For a few years, I had to prove that the prints did not match the false record in question. After legal action, however, I was able to have this corrected.”
Unfortunately, millions are affected by the recent hacks. As a result, they may be dealing with similar identity theft repercussions in the years ahead.
Before you become a victim of identity theft, Merritt offers seven ways to guard against it.
• Understand how and where it happens. Identity theft is like being robbed when you are away from home. Therefore most thefts occur in places where you do business every day. Either a place of business is robbed or a bad employee acts improperly. Also, a hacker may breach the office through a computer.
• Secure your wallet’s information. Photocopy everything in your wallet: photos, credit cards (front and back), membership cards – everything. Put the copies in the order the cards are arranged in your wallet. Next, staple the pictures and place them in a strong box or safe.
• Account for your interactions with vendors. Every time you speak to someone with whom you do business, do these steps. Write down the time, date, name and the purpose or outcome of the call. If an identity theft occurs on the vendor’s end, you will be able to reference these prior conversations effectively. Lastly, be sure to note any animosity or reluctance from the vendor.
• Protect your banking information. While in the bank, keep account numbers and other data out of sight. Also avoid stating account numbers, Social Security numbers and similar information out loud. For example, when planning a bank visit, have deposit and withdrawal slips prepared in advance.
• Make sure your information is consistent. For all of your identity and financial documents, make absolutely sure, to the smallest detail, that all of your personal information is accurate and consistent! Discrepancies such as using your middle initial on some documents, and not others. In addition, having different addresses, can wreck havoc in proving your identity, and can compromise your credit score.
• Secure your digital habits and data. Change your passwords at least twice a year on a non-scheduled basis – don’t be predictable. Have a strong firewall if you shop online. Plus, only access sites that are protected by a strong firewall and high industry standards. Access accounts of a financial nature only from your personal computer.
• Don’t carry around your birth certificate or Social Security card. Unless it’s necessary, keep those vital items in a safe, or at least a firebox. If you know someone is going to need a copy of your tax returns or your driver’s license, for example, make the copies ahead of time. This avoids the need for a firm’s employee to leave the room with such information.
Merritt concludes, “Of course, you can greatly reduce being a victim of such recent hacks that occurred at the major retailers by using cash more often,” he says. “But if you’re going to use credit, use a card from a national bank. Or consider a national credit union and never a debit card, no exceptions.”
The lessons to learn are be careful and pay attention. Don’t give the crooks easy access to your personal information. If you are effected, then immediately seek out help to minimize the damage.

Private art sales at Christie’s and Phillips dramatically increased in 2019, by 24% to $811 million and by 34% to $172 million, respectively. On the other hand, Sotheby’s saw its private sales hold steady at about $1 billion in private art sales.
Online sales accounted for 5% of dealers’ sales in 2019. 3% based on galleries’ own portals and websites. In addition, the other 2% represent sales from third-party platforms. Although still a small percent of total art sales, we expect the use of third party online platforms and direct sales by artists, to continue to grow. Consumers and investors like the fact they can purchase direct from their favorite artist, from anywhere in the world.
There is no denying that art sells and can sell for very big money! The price appreciation for many pieces of art can be quite jaw-dropping. How is art valued? That is a complex question with no easy answer. But one fact we do know. At the time of sale, art is worth what a willing seller will sell it for and a willing buyer will buy it for.
Jack Armstrong personally knew Jean-Michel Basquiat, who was a Neo-Expressionist painter in the 1980’s. In May of 2017, one his paintings landed him in the record books. To think that it was created by a virtually – unknown 21- year old & was dismissed by critics, is humbling.”

In 1973, the National Gallery of Art in Australia purchased “Blue Poles” by American artist Jackson Pollock.
