1. Glassware choice increases the spirits’ aesthetics.

David Cid notes, “Great sipping rums have a story to tell. One that is best discovered by allowing the spirit to tell the story as it breathes and develops in the glass.”

He regards crystal glassware as being renowned for its elegance, due mostly to its plentitude of physical characteristics. Crystal glassware is the optimal choice for sipping spirits due to its unsurpassed clarity and ability to channel light – thus creating a visual experience that truly highlights the color and body of the beverage in hand. In addition, the thinness of the crystal allows for slight fluctuations in the temperature of the spirit depending on the external environment, which slightly affects the aroma and flavors to be perceived by the sipper.

2. Prefer your sipping rum on the rocks? Be mindful of your ice pairing.

For those who enjoy sipping on the rocks, the impact ice will have on the libation will depend on the ice cube, sphere or block’s density and size. Higher density ice equates to less air in the ice. A large cube of ice increases the total surface area of the ice, while reducing the amount of surface area in contact with the spirit. Notably, with spherical ice there is less surface area contact with the spirit. In both instances, the result is a chilling of the beverage, while minimizing dilution.

Additionally, it is important to remember that the minerality of the water used to form the ice can affect the flavor of the spirit. The less minerals in the water source will equate to less impact on the natural flavors of the spirit.

3. Want to maximize the overall sipping experience? Try the “water back” approach.

Serve a “water back”, or a glass of water, with a neatly poured spirit is as much tradition as it is good practice for sipping. Luxury spirits are meant to be sipped slowly, to savor all of their flavors, and over the holidays – pacing oneself is a must.

All spirits react to temperature – when cold, the alcohol will contract. When warm, the alcohol will expand, which affects how much aroma and flavor will be perceivable to the sipper. Room-temperature water is a preferred when attempting the “water back” approach.

4. Encourage your guests to try something new.

Undeniably, the best way to serve any spirit is to do so based on the preferences of the person being served. Know the preferences of your guests at a cocktail party supersedes everything.

Heesen Yachts is thrilled to share news that they sold two luxury yachts in the past few weeks. The 55-meter POLLUX was sold at the beginning of October and last Friday was the sale of the 50-meter TRITON. As a result, the sale of TRITON is the third yacht sold by Heesen in 2020.

It is exciting to see at Heesen we can sign contracts, despite the challenges created by COVID-19 travel restrictions. Hence, luxury brands have had to fight hard to continue their operations. Appearing in famous films such as “Furious 7” and used by the Abu Dhabi Police Department to chase down high-profile criminals, the car is the definition of luxury; so much so, in fact, that its headlights and LED blades are made out of hundreds of 15-carat diamonds! Yet, the inside is just as impressive, as its 780-horsepower twin-turbocharged flat-six engine can go an impressive 395 kilometres per hour! However, with only seven in existence, they definitely are hard to come by!

Number 7. Pagani Huayra Roadster ($3.5 million)

Although the Pagani Huayra’s base model comes in at a relatively inexpensive $2.4 million, the most advanced rendition of it comes in at $3.5 million! Now, while it may look a lot more like a race car than a road car, it turns out that the Huayra is completely street legal. However, given that its 780 horsepower engine can accelerate to 100 kilometres an hour in just 2.8 seconds, we doubt even the fastest police cars could chase it down!

Number 6. McLaren P1 LM ($3.6 million)

Created as the street-legal equivalent of the track-only McLaren P1 GTR, you wouldn’t be wrong to think that the $3.6 million McLaren P1 LM looks a little more sporty than most of the other cars on this list. Bringing luxury to a whole new extreme with its gold-plated engine bay, the car’s 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine allows it to accelerate to a maximum speed of 350 kilometres per hour. However, with only five of these ever made, you’re going to have a hard time finding them at your local car shop!

Number 5. Lamborghini Veneno ($4.5 million)

Italy is a country known for its luxury sports cars, so it’s no surprise that a Lamborghini made it on to this list! With veneno translating to the word “venom” in English, it’s no surprise that the car has killer looks to match its name! Yet, the $4.5 million Lamborghini Veneno’s unique exterior is only rivaled by its insane interior, which sports a 740 horsepower 6.5 liter V12 engine with a seven-speed single clutch that enables the car to accelerate from 0-100km per hour in as little as 2.9 seconds! However, you’ll likely have a hard time getting your hands at one; with only nine units in existence, their price at auction is often double or triple its retail price!

Number 4. Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita ($4.8 million)

While you may have seen your fair share of carbon fibre cars on this list, the Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita brings this material to a whole other level by featuring diamond weave carbon fibre and high-end carbon fibre brakes. However, it’s not just the car’s materials that are jaw-dropping: sporting a 1,018 horsepower 4.8-liter twin-supercharged V8 engine, this car can reach speeds of over 410 kilometres per hour! However, if you want one of the speedy sports cars to be in your garage, you’ll have to have pretty deep pockets, as this Koenigsegg comes in at a whopping $4.8 million!

Debuted in 2004, this elegant machine not only looks sleek, but is incredibly powerful as well. Sporting a 690-horsepower twin-turbo V12 engine that can accelerate to speeds of 350 kilometers per hour, this car is the perfect marriage of looks and performance. However, this car isn’t one that can simply be picked up at your nearest Mercedes dealership; with only the extremely rich having the option of buying one, there is only an estimated 12 or so in existence today!

With only one $13 million Rolls-Royce Sweptail available in the entire world: this car is the definition of exclusive! Packing a visual punch with powerful materials

Each sporty, technical, and finely honed U23 timepiece suspends the Angelus A-250 caliber within an ultra-light yet super-strong, scratch-resistant titanium and CTP (Carbon Thin Ply) composite case. The case measures a comfortable 42 mm in diameter and 10.3 mm thick. The interplay between the solid metal and textured carbon fiber infuses the U23 with visual energy.

The colorful skeletonized PVD-treated titanium bridges of the Angelus U23 series, recall the vivid hues of a classic cocktail in eight distinct shades. These coordinate with the minute circle. Each shade identifies a unique piece named after a cocktail. These eight tourbillon timepieces combinations – strong, sour, creamy, light, bitter or sweet – are the ingredients that make the U23 luxury watch models so unique.

The eclectic menu offers classics and rarities that cater to a range of tastes. U23 Negroni is orange, like the blend of Gin and Vermouth. The U23 Cosmopolitan adopts the shade of blueberry Vodka.  Next, the U23 Ocean View startles in Curaçao blue. Lastly, the U23 Tequila Sunrise recreates the orange, pink and blue layers formed by citrus fruit juice and grenadine with the idyllic sea in the background.

Tasteful design crafted with structural strength

The strength of each cocktail-inspired timepiece lies in its superior materials. They feature a unique cocktail of titanium and the highest quality Carbon Thin Ply (CTP) material. The colored bridges are screwed into the main plate, which is also made from CTP. To create the CTP, hundreds of layers of carbon are piled into successive layers in alternating orientations. Plus, they are and fused together with a highly technical resin. that is pressurized at a very high temperature. The resulting carbon fiber material is extremely hard and incredibly dense. Yet remains ultra-light, providing optimal structural integrity and additional beneficial properties. CTP is also soft to the touch, non-magnetic, and hypo-allergenic.

With its clean vertical structure, the Angelus A-250 caliber at the heart of the U23 is the visual backbone of the piece. An open-worked barrel at 12 o’clock offers a 90-hour power reserve, making this both a beautiful and practical timepiece for everyday wear. Plus, a flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock offers enhanced timekeeping, offsetting the effects of gravity, while the gear train ensures optimal transmission. These functional organs are anchored to three titanium bridges, giving the U23 its unique personality. Thanks to these bridges, the movement floats above the CTP main plate as if suspended on stilts.

The high-flying theme carries on to the tourbillon of the Angelus A-250 caliber. It’s a flying tourbillon, with no upper bridge. As a result, the tourbillon appears to float freely with a large window cut away from the main plate in the background. Hence, this allows light to enter and to illuminate the rotating regulating organ. Next, the arms of the tourbillon carriage mirror the bridges and all the wheels of the movement. Lastly, each component has been open-worked to promote lightness of material as well as aesthetic.
