“Long Way Down” Picture Collection at Bonhams Auction

In 2007, Ewan McGregor (Star Wars, Angels & Demons, Amelia, The Island, Moulin Rouge) and Charley Boorman (Emerald Forest, By Any Means, Race to Dakar started another amazing motorcycle expedition. This famous motorcycle journey was named “Long Way Down.”

The two actors circumnavigated the world and covered 15,000 miles – a journey of a lifetime. The incredible trip by Scotsman McGregor and Englishman Boorman began at the northernmost tip of Scotland all the way down to the southernmost tip of Africa.

Auction house Bonhams is proud to announce an exclusive collection of photographs from the “Long Way Down” journey will be auctioned off at the popular Bonhams Las Vegas Motorcycle Auction. The auction will take place at Bally’s Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on Thursday, January 8th, 2015.

The framed photo collection consists of 27 photographs 22 x 26 inches in size and 5 that are 26 x 30 inches in size. The pictures are professionally matted and framed by Big Earth Productions, who were the producers of Long Way Down and Long Way Round.

The collection was first displayed at the 2008 Legend of the Motorcycle Concours d’Elegance near San Francisco, California. Now you can have the opportunity to bid and own it yourself.

“The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering” Bonhams Auction

Bonhams is hosting the 16th annual Carmel motorcar auction on August 16th. Bonhams is the world record-holding auction house and has lined up impressive assembly of Italian sports cars for the upcoming auction.

The luxury car auction will feature many iconic and desirable car models including from Lamborghini, Ferrari, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and Maserati.

The Quail Lodge & Golf Club is a spacious property and located in sunny Carmel Valley, California. The car auction is scheduled for Friday, August 16th. Preview days are available on the 14th and 15th.

Available to bid at Bonhams will be many noteworthy Italian cars, such as the one-off 1954 New York Auto Show, 1953 Ferrari 250 Europa Coupé Vignale. This vintage luxury sports car is now on display at Bonhams’ Manhattan showroom.

An amazing 1960 Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet Series II with coachwork by Pinin Farina will be available as well. This expertly restored, matching numbers car has been documented from new by historian Marcel Massini. The car comes with an extremely rare factory-delivered hard top, and truly represents the epitome of Ferrari’s mid-century fast and glamorous image of la dolce vita.

Other Ferraris at the Bonhams car auction include two superb examples of the heralded 330 GTC, a platinum-winning 365 GTB/4 Daytona, and a beautiful Dino 246 GTS.

There’s a 1975 Lamborghini Countach LP400 “Periscopica” (shown above) that has only 53,000 km on it. The matching numbers missile is one of only 150 created and is a pioneer of design whose paternity can be seen in the supercars of today.

You will also find a classic 1955 Lancia Aurelia B24S Spider America with coachwork by Pinin Farina. This B24S Spider America is just one of 240 that were ever made and of 181 with left-hand drive. The stunning sports car comes with a race-developed V-6 engine and went through a quarter-million dollar restoration.

Glenfiddich is celebrating 125 years of pioneering achievement and recently held an exclusive 150 person anniversary gala on Liberty Island in New York. The luxury event was hosted by actor Adrian Grenier.

The highlight of the evening was definitely the auction of the first U.S. bottle of the world’s most valuable single malt – only one of eleven available.

The auction sale of the Glenfiddich bottle of whisky shattered the record for the most expensive bottle of whisky ever sold at auction.

The 55-Year-Old Glenfiddich Janet Sheed Roberts Reserve raised $94,000 becoming the most expensive whisky ever purchased at auction.

The event was co-hosted by Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman who travelled from Scotland to oversee this auspicious occasion and kick off the brand’s year-long 125th Anniversary celebration.

The Barbie doll has been a treasured collectible for decades. What started out as a simple doll for girls by toy maker Mattel, has turned into a massive worldwide, collectible market.

Thought to be the largest single-owner Barbie collection ever auctioned, the Dutch collection was sold in September of 2006 by Christie’s of London. The Barbie collection of over 4,000 dolls was said to include practically every Barbie ever produced. Starting from the 1959 #1 ponytail, to the current dolls of the 2000′s.

Christie’s sold the rare dolls individually and others were in lots of 10 to 12 dolls. The bidding for the lots will started at around $100 to $200. The estimate was at the time, the collection was worth approximately $185,000.

Auction house Christie’s, tells Reuters, “This is a collection of virtually everything — and most of it is in mint condition as it has never been taken out of its boxes, making it particularly highly prized.”

The first ever Barbie, wearing a zebra stripe swimsuit and white sunglasses, sold for over $6,000 to an anonymous collector.

This was a far cry from the pocket-money price of $3 when she first went on sale in 1959. In all more than 4,000 of the dolls went on sale at Christies attracting buyers from all over the world.  Full article
