Both the front and rear fascias were made using strong but lightweight, basalt fiber composite. Under the headlights are multifunction LED lighting that’s used for daytime running lights, turn indicators and parking lights.

For a VIP style look, the 24-inch, three-piece modular wheels feature forged centers. To improve braking capability, the LARTE Missuro SUV is equipped with a cutting-edge braking system from Rotora. It features braided stainless steel brake hoses, 8-piston calipers, plus large ventilated rotors and high-performance pads.

Scenic Lake Tahoe is a majestic alpine lake that is surrounded by the towering peaks of both the Sierra Nevada to the west, and Carson Ranges to the east. Lake Tahoe shares the common border of California and Nevada and is known for its incredibly, clear water.

The lake is one of the largest and deepest lakes in the world. It ranks as the second deepest in the U.S., behind only Crater Lake in Oregon.  One of the best ways to enjoy Lake Tahoe is by boat. On the shore, we get an up close view of magical Vikingsholm mansion. This 38 room castle was built by Knight and finished in 1929. The stone mansion has a Scandinavian look as it sits just beyond a sandy beach with waves lapping up on the shore. She lived in the home until her death in 1945. Vikingsholm can also be reached by hiking or walking along the scenic trail, down to Emerald Bay.

As we circle around the back side of Fannette Island, one can simply admire and appreciate the area’s natural beauty. We slowly exit Emerald Bay and return to the open waters of Lake Tahoe. As you gaze to the south, you’ll notice the ski runs of Heavenly Mountain Resort and the towering, hotel casinos of world famous South Lake Tahoe.

The original M.S. Dixie boat began service on Lake Tahoe back in 1949. Operating first as a pleasure boat, it was expanded and became the inaugural paddle wheeler, serving the public in 1972. Then in 1994, the current M.S. Dixie II went into service bring modern technology that has served many thousands of passengers ever since.

BACARDÍ Gran Reserva is a line of super-premium mixing rums that include BACARDÍ Gran Reserva Maestro de Ron, which is a double-aged white rum. BACARDÍ introduced rum lovers to this great tasting spirit at the James Beard Foundation Awards Gala in Chicago earlier this year.

BACARDÍ Gran Reserva partnered with Chef Ari Taymor to create specialty rum cocktails that would be the official cocktail at the James Beard Foundation Taste America.

Chef Taymor will attend two Taste America stops. One was last week in Chicago and on November 6th, you can meet Chef Tamore in Los Angeles. In L.A., also dine at Taymor’s original restaurant, named Alma.

Headless Horseman
2 parts BACARDÍ Gran Reserva Ocho Años
2½ parts Ginger Beer
1 part Carrot Eau de Vie
½ part Lime Juice
½ part Smoked Maple Simple Syrup*
Garnish: Microplane coffee

Method: Place all ingredients except coffee beans and ginger beer in a tumbler with ice. Stir and strain into a Collins glass with ice. Pour ginger beer over the top and finish with a bit of coffee beans grated on a microplane.

*Smoked Maple Syrup
1 cup Cold Smoked Maple Syrup*
1 cup water

Method: Mix together and bring to a boil. *To cold smoke the maple syrup, heat wood chips in a pie tin until they smoke, then put syrup in a bowl put them in a container and cover with foil for 35-45 minutes.

1 part BACARDÍ Gran Reserva Maestro de Ron
½ part Kaffir Lime Juice
1 tsp Aromatic simple syrup*

Method: Mix ingredients with ice in a cocktail shaker, shake vigorously and serve in a chilled coupe.

*Aromatic Simple Syrup
1 cup water
12 Thai basil leaves
3 Coriander seeds
¼ Sliced Jalapeño
2 Kaffir Lime Leaves (if available)
1 cup Sugar

Method: Bring to a boil, steep 15 minutes, strain and cool.

Known as a top builder of luxury superyachts, the Italian Sea Group first announced plans for Admiral X Force 145 last November. Their venture could become just another record breaker in the luxury yacht industry.

The luxury superyacht measures 465 feet in length. Its exterior is extremely modern with a sleek, low profile. The yacht main deck level features a continuous pane of glass that seems to go on for miles. The curved glass ends in the yacht’s bow to highlight an incredible observation lounge. The floor-to-ceiling windows bring in tons of natural light inside.

The yacht was designed by Monaco-based Dobroserdov Design, and the yacht’s interior is as luxurious as you can ever imagine. Based on a pocket watch that luxury watch brand founder Pierre Jaquet-Droz completed way back in 1784, the Grande Seconde watch series from Jaquet-Droz features the classic look of two intersecting dials. The larger subdial is located below the seconds subdial.

Now Jaquet-Droz has introduced a new version of the classic Grande Seconde watch. This one is named the Grande Seconde Deadbeat watch and features a large subdial that’s underneath a retrograde date indicator. You’ll also notice a large second hand, taking up the entire dial for an impressive look.

What makes the second hand movement rather unique is it doesn’t follow the current sweep pattern of today’s mechanical watches. The Grande Seconde Deadbeat hand moves in one-second increments.

The new Grande Seconde Deadbeat watch by Jaquet-Droz is the epitome of fine watchmaking. It’s a very complicated luxury watch and is perfect for any watch connoisseur. Show off that VIP style by wearing this stunning new timepiece.

Prior to the invention of the chronograph, the goal of watchmakers was to improving the accuracy of watches. By moving a large second hand only once per second, it became a new standard for maximum precision. That precision was important, especially in the navigation industry.

The Grande Seconde Deadbeat displays the seconds hand in the center of watch dial. This differs from the historic version, where you would find the seconds hand off-centered.

The Jaquet-Droz luxury watch comes in a 43 mm red gold case. It is 13.79 mm thick and features an ivory grande feu enamelled dial.

In 2014, when Jaquet Droz created the Grande Seconde Quantième Ivory Enamel watch, their talented designers utilized a balance-spring that was made from silicon. Due to silicon not being affected by magnetic fields or changes in pressure and temperature, it produces incredibly accurate timekeeping. A new caliber was designed to combine the Deadbeat Seconds, Calendar and Hour and Minute functions. The new Jaquet Droz 2695SMR calibre is automatic, with a single barrel, providing a 40-hour power reserve. The watch company has already filed for a patent on the new caliper design.

The new watch is Reference J008033200. Production will be in a limited edition of only 88 pieces. As you may recall from our previous articles about Jaquet-Droz watches, 8 is their lucky number.
