Sky high prices for luxury homes in Beverly Hills, California is nothing new. But recently, a new luxury real estate listing appeared for an eye popping $135 million. It’s a luxury mansion formerly owned by comedian Danny Thomas.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the luxury mansion sits on 2-1/2 acres of land and is part of Trousdale Estates in Southern California.

The luxury home is approximately 18,000 square-foot in size and features eight bedrooms and 12 bathrooms. The homes’ architectural design was Moorish inspired. Viewing some of the photos and you know that the next owner will be living in ultimate, VIP style.

Due to it’s location, this luxury mansion provides 360 degree views of the entire Los Angeles area. The incredible view from the home’s expansive balcony (see photo below) is stunning. Due its elevation, you will have privacy not found in other parts of Beverly Hills.

The luxury home is being listed by real estate agent Aaron Kirman, who is president of Aaroe Estates, part of the John Aaroe Group. When asked to describe the lavish interior, Kirman was quoted, “The décor has a specific market, but the market that likes it, loves it. There is a market for people who love ornate detail.”

Although we don’t know the name of the current owner, he or she undertook an incredible renovation project and peeled back the home’s interior down to the studs, before remodeling it to its current, lavish state.

The home next door sold last year for a lofty $70 million. That luxury estate was purchased by the founder of Minecraft, Markus “Notch” Persson. Beverly Hills living is definitely a VIP lifestyle.

According to public records, Danny Thomas purchased the Trousdale Estates property way back in the late 1960s. The mansion was then built in 1970. Danny Thomas died form heart failure on February 6, 1991 at the age of 79. After Danny Thomas’ widow passed away in 2000, their children – including actress Marlo Thomas, then sold the property. Public records hsow the sale value was $15 million.

The property includes a beautiful swimming pool to relax, soak in that year-round SoCal sunshine and enjoy the panoramic, local views. The luxurious Norwegian Escape cruise ship from Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), had been under construction since September of 2014, in Papenburg, Germany. On August 16, the impressive Norwegian Escape ship floated out of the construction building and is currently getting ready to enter into service in late October of this year.

The luxury cruise ship will become the largest ship in the entire Norwegian Cruise Line fleet. NCL reports Norwegian Escape weighs 164,600 tons and can carry up to 4,200 passengers. You’ll be cruising the open seas in VIP style.

The beautiful, signature hull artwork was designed by Guy Harvey, who is a famous marine wildlife artist and conservationist. The mighty cruise ship measures 1,098 feet in length and is 136 feet wide. It will become the first ship in NCL’s new Breakaway Plus Class line.

The Norwegian Escape still has work to be done such as adding the iconic, Norwegian Cruise Line funnel, plus adding a third story to the ships’ ropes course. When completed the ropes course will become the largest anywhere at sea. This review is a follow up to another story we did in January titled – Norwegian Escape.

There is an amazing series of inaugural events planned in both Europe and Miami. Norwegian Cruise Line plans to have Norwegian Escape ready for its maiden voyage on November 14, 2015. 3. Garnish with cherry orange flag and a cinnamon stick.

Ingredients:
1 50 ml Zacapa Rum 23 Bottle
2 1/2 ounces Toasted Coconut Almond Cream*
3/4 ounce Pineapple Juice
Almonds and Orchid for Garnish

*Toasted Coconut Almond Cream Ingredients:
1 pound Almond Flakes
1 quart Water
1 tsp Almond Extract
1 cup Sugar
8 ounces Sweetened Condensed Milk

*Toasted Coconut Almond Cream Preparation:
1. Add all ingredients to a large saucepan. Bring to a simmer.
2. Take off heat.
3. Let rest 15 minutes.
4. Blend until smooth.

Preparation:
1. Add Toasted Coconut Almond Cream and pineapple juice to a cocktail shaker. Whip until incorporated.
2. Pour into a large footed glass.
3. Top with crushed ice.
4. Pour 50 ml Zacapa Rum 23 bottle in, use as garnish.
5. Top with more crushed ice; add a colorful straw, orchid and 3 almonds to garnish.

Green Apple Slice and Rosemary Sprig for Garnish

Preparation:
1. Combine Zacapa Rum 23, cold press green apple juice, lime juice, jalapeño honey and rosemary tincture into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well.
2. Strain into a double rocks glass over a large piece of ice.
3. Top with sparkling wine.
4. Garnish with one green apple slice and rosemary sprig.

You have a lifetime of earnings and hopefully a large savings, it’s easy to get comfortable and expect a financially secure retirement, particularly if you believe you are working with a reliable, financial advisor. Well don’t be so sure.

Slovan says, “Life is rarely that simple or black-and-white and, unfortunately, neither is the financial realm. It’s worth reflecting on where your advisor is coming from,. If they are not fully independent – as in not working for a large institution – their advice may be biased toward sales.”

He continues, “Further complicating matters are various professionals in the financial industry. Whether or not a professional means well, the fact remains that many are actually trying to sell products.”

Slovon offers three key tips for financial wellness and hopes it leads to financial retirement success for us all.

1) Audit your current and future expenses; spell out your plan. If you don’t have a plan for your money then you’re just hoping for things to work out. You can do better than that, even though changes in your plan will likely occur at some point. The most basic aspect of a financial plan includes understanding your current budget, which could be compared to expenses expected in the future. The more technical side of things, such as how to save on taxes and make your money go further, would benefit from analysis by a truly independent financial advisor.

2) Listen to your doctor – so to speak. If you want to enjoy your golden years, good health is arguably the most important step – and it’s cost-effective. He states, “More specifically, doctors often tell patients that they can be of service only in as much as patients are doing their part for good health. A healthy diet, exercise, regular doctor’s visits, etc. are necessary. These things help provide good health. A similar kind of vigilance is required if you want to fully enjoy your money in retirement.”

3) Focus on your taxes, and perhaps tax-favored investments. An important part of understanding your budget, and making it work better for you, is getting reliable professional analysis on your tax situation. You may be paying much more than is necessary. If you are expecting to retire in the near future, you may especially benefit from analysis of your tax budget.

Slovon continues, “Most of us give our lives to our work and families our entire adult lives. If you’re nearing or in retirement, it’s time to focus on you. That means you’ll need at least some professional financial help. However, you are the best person to oversee your own economic fate.”

In closing he says, “Perhaps the arithmetic of personal wealth should be much simpler, but like it or not, the rules of economics are riddled with fine print, unexpected or inadequately explained conditions, and loopholes.”

So as you can see, it’s ultimately each of us who needs to be our own best financial advocate. Although you may need a team of professionals such as a CPA, financial advisor, lawyer, etc…, don’t forget to stay involved all along the way.
