Heidi Klum – Supermodel and “Project Runway” Host

Heidi Klum was born in Germany on June 1, 1973. Heidi found her way into the public eye at the early age of 18 after she won TV modeling contest in Germany.

After Heidi Klum moved to the U.S., she ended up in New York City to pursue her modeling career.

In 1998, Heidi Klum signed a contract with famous Victoria’s Secret, where she appeared on the popular cover. Klum has also been cover of most of the popular fashion magazines including ELLE, Marie Claire and Vogue Magazine.

Klum also graced the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue in 1998. The visibility Heidi received gained her an even greater level of fame. Her popularity led to Klum appearing in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue every year from 1998 to 2004.

Heidi Klum next made the move into both television and Hollywood movies. Heidi’s first recurring role occurred on “Spin City”, where she actually played herself. Klum could be seen in smaller roles including “Sex and the City”, “Blow Dry”, “Ella Enchanted” and the Meryl Streep film, “The Devil Wears Prada”.

Heidi Klum became the host, judge and executive producer of “Project Runway” in 2004. Project Runway was a reality TV series on the “Bravo” cable network that targets fashion design.

Project Runway show contestants compete to design and make their own clothes and have their creations shown by models on a stage runaway. Heidi Klum also hosted the German TV show version of “Next Top Model”.

She received an Emmy Awards nomination for Project Runway for each of the first three seasons of the show.

In 1997, Heidi Klum married hairstylist Ric Pipino. The couple did divorce in 2002. Next, Klum was romantically involved with front-man Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Heidi was also invloved with Formula One manager Flavio Briatore. From that relationship, Klum gave birth to her first child, Helene. But in 2005, Heidi Klum married her true love, British musician Seal.

In 2009, the 6th season of the hit TV show “Project Runway” will air on the Lifetime Channel.

Host and executive producer Heidi Klum, is optimistic that this year’s show will be the best “Project Runway” ever.
