Fine Dining at Park City Utah’s Deer Valley Resort

Deer Valley Resort

The top ski resorts in Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado have been competing over the past twenty years to build the perfect mountain vacation getaway. The ski holiday is no longer the same experience it was back in the 1980’s when accommodations of marginal quality were accepted as the norm.

The last 10 years have brought increasing growth to the size of resort facilities, on mountain services, shopping, and restaurants. While there are many top quality ski resorts; Vail Resort in Vail, CO and Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah consistently earn the #1 and #2 positions as ranked by Ski Magazine readers. Deer Valley Resort has earned the top coveted position in 2001, 2005, 2007, 2008,  2009 and again for 2010.

Deer Valley Resort is nestled in Utah’s Rocky Mountain Wasatch Range and located in the historic town of Park City. Deer Valley focuses on the quality of its superbly groomed ski runs, on mountain services, and on mountain restaurants to retain its #1 ranking.

The resort prides itself on its award winning lunch menu as well as its fine dining restaurants open every evening during the winter season. The restaurants are located in Deer Valley Resorts opulent ski lodges.

Deer Valley Fireside Dining is held in the Empire Canyon Lodge and features a Swiss menu of alpine cuisine served fireside. The Seafood Buffet located in the Snow Park Lodge offers many types of fresh seafood including sushi, prawns, shrimp, crab legs, and even duck and prime rib. The flagship Mariposa Restaurant serves continental cuisine and is located in the Silver Lake Lodge at mid-mountain.

The town of Park City UT has countered by increasing the amount of high-end accommodations, fine dining, and shopping options. The expansion over the last ten years has been very dramatic with hundreds of new luxury accommodations gradually replacing the more traditional ski resort accommodations.

Due to this recent transition towards a more discerning visitor, Park City and Deer Valley restaurants have responded by providing an ever improving dining experience. Mobile, Michelin, AAA, and Zagat rank several restaurants close to Deer Valley as top choices within their widely read guide books.

The Goldener Hirsch restaurant located in the renowned Goldener Hirsch Inn and the Glitretind restaurant located in the Stein Eriksen Lodge are two such restaurants. My personal favorite is the Goldener Hirsch Restaurant because of the delicious cheese fondue appetizer and the quaint Austrian decor.

Living up to its number 1 ski resort reputation, Deer Valley Resort certainly will not disappoint. No matter what your personal preference you will definitely be able to find something to your liking both on and off the mountain. Deer Valley Resort is definitely worth a closer examination. Two thumbs up!
