Enjoy Delicious Summer Bourbon Cocktails

Although we officially have less than a month left of summer, there’s still plenty of time for awesome outdoor BBQ gatherings, parties and social events. With temperatures still rising, it’s time to cool down with some summer bourbon cocktails from both Basil Hayden’s and Knob Creek.

Maybe you are watching a baseball game, golf tournament or a football spring-training game. You invite some friends over and want to offer a great tasting cocktail. Along with great food is a good drink. It’s the successful formula to a hit party. Don’t stick to those old boring cocktails you’ve been serving forever. Mix it up and mix a cocktail your boys will be asking for more.

Basil Hayden’s is part of the Jim Bean Family and is a light bodied bourbon whiskey. This spirit can be mixed to create awesome summer bourbon cocktails. Basil Hayden’s is 80 proof so you know it will go down smooth like silk.

We think you’ll enjoy the taste of American-made Basil Hayden’s Bourbon. Drink it neat or drink it on the rocks. Either is awesome. But also consider mixing it to create a terrific bourbon cocktail. Here’s a Brazil-inspired cocktail to try out.

Basil Hayden’s® Rio Julep
Recipe by: Austin Mixologist Justin Elliot

INGREDIENTS
2 parts Basil Hayden’s Bourbon
1/4 part Banana Liqueur
1 tsp of Brown Sugar
1 dash of Aromatic Bitters
8-10 Mint Leaves
Banana Chip (for garnish)

METHOD
1. Muddle 8-10 mint leaves, dash of bitters and brown sugar in a double rocks glass.
2. Add Basil Hayden’s and banana liqueur and stir gently.
3. Fill the cup to the rim with crushed ice.
4. Garnish with a mint sprig and banana chip.

Knob Creek® American Champion Old Fashioned

INGREDIENTS
1 ½ Parts Knob Creek® Rye Whiskey
Ginger Beer
½ Part Lemon Juice
¼ Part Green Chartreuse
6-8 Mint Leaves

METHOD
1. Combine all ingredients (except ginger beer) in a bar tin with ice and shake well.
2. Strain into a chilled Collins glass, top off with ginger beer and garnish with a single mint leaf.
