Well, it looks like 2010 is going to be a banner year for breaking records in the world of collectible comic books.

A copy of the classic 1938 edition of Action Comics No. 1, just sold today for a new record amount of $1.5 million.

The sale occurred on ComicConnect.com, an auction Web site.

For comic book collectors, this issue is the “one to have”. Of course, it features the first occurrence of Superman.

Back in February, the same issue sold for at the time, a new record of $1 million.

But soon after, the record fell as a 1939 comic book that featured the debut of Batman brought in just over $1 million.

There are no details on who purchased the record breaking comic book, but the Action Comics No. 1 issue was purchased by a private collector.

According to Stephen Fishler who is one of the co-owners of ComicConnect.com, the buyer is “a hardcore comic book fan.”
