Fairmont Banff Springs - Canadian Rocky Luxury

by admin on October 24, 2008

Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel

Much of Canada was settled by Scottish immigrants. They named the various new built towns and cities after some of their favorite places back home. The name “Banff” comes from Banffshire, Scotland, which happened to be home to two of the original directors of the Canadian Pacific Railway.

To attract and accommodate tourists, the Canadian Pacific Railway erected a train station in Banff, and the spectacular Banff Springs Hotel, and the town mushroomed.

Since 1888 the luxurious Fairmont Banff Springs has stood as a symbol to the grandeur of the snow-tipped Canadian Rockies.

Styled in the theme of a Scottish baronial castle and originally built for adventurous travelers crossing the rugged Canadian Rockies by train, the Fairmont Banff Springs hotel continues to offer exemplary service and warm hospitality. A romantic and majestic experience.

Beringer Vineyards - Famous Napa Valley Winery

by admin on October 17, 2008

Beringer Vineyards Napa Wine

No winery more thoroughly embodies the timeless appeal and seductive flavor of Napa Valley than Beringer Vineyards. Located in St. Helena California, it’s Napa’s benchmark producer since its establishment in 1876.

Beringer Vineyards is Napa Valley’s oldest continuously-operating winery. The winery is famous for its award winning white zinfandel wine, and currently makes many wines with grapes sourced from different regions.

In 1876, Jacob and Frederick Beringer founded Beringer Vineyards in the modern-day St. Helena AVA. This was the result of their realization that the soils in St Helena were very similar to those in the vineyards of their home- the Rhine Valley. The Beringer Brothers financed the incredibly difficult task of carving caves in the hills behind their winery.
