The Cayman Islands welcome a new luxury hideaway, cottage hotel – Cotton Tree.

The Cotton Tree is a boutique property and located on the northernmost point of Grand Cayman (ten minutes from the famed Seven Mile Beach), beautifully evokes the spirit of the Cayman Islands with its pastel-hued, plantation-style beach cottages just steps from the Caribbean Sea and lush garden setting of tropical flowers and avocado, guava, mango and cotton trees for which the hotel was named.

Owner Heather Lockington, a global traveler who was born in the Cayman Islands, has built her dream property in West Bay . “My inspiration for Cotton Tree,” says Lockington, “was the day when I was stopped on the beach by a family who asked for any places in Cayman other than traditional hotels where they can feel at home.”

After realizing that such a place didn’t exist she set about creating an authentic haven where guests could embrace Caymanian heritage. “I want people to understand the islands’ architecture, art, cuisine—basically, to learn about the essence of the Cayman Islands and its people.”

Cotton Tree consists of just four two-bedroom, beachfront cottages — ensuring privacy and intimacy —which measure 1,600 square feet and resemble fully equipped houses.

Highlights of the “ Caribbean chic” décor include classic contemporary furnishings, French doors overlooking the sea, black-and-white photos of old Cayman, 600 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets, and in the baths, full-sized Elemis products, a spa or rainforest shower and Jacuzzi tub.

There’s also three 42” plasma TVs, an iPod docking station, Wii, free WiFi, a laser printer in each cottage and a laptop which is available for guest use. Additionally, hotel services such as a reception/concierge, bellhop, housekeeping and turndown on request are also featured.

One of Lockington’s passions is gastronomy so Cotton Tree’s kitchens are truly state-of-the-art. Expect Kitchen Aid appliances, granite counter tops, high-end cutlery/cooking utensils and a French press coffee maker. The refrigerator is pre-stocked with breakfast items (organic eggs, juices, bread, cereal and local condiments) for guests who prefer to make their own or a continental breakfast can be delivered daily.

A personal chef can whip up gourmet meals accompanied by wines chosen by a sommelier, and Cotton Tree is a quick drive to Grand Cayman’s best restaurants.

Additional amenities include a freshwater swimming pool, fitness center and yoga and spa pavilions nestled among seagrape trees, perfect for a sunset massage. Guests can also experience activities hand-selected by Heather including biking to Barker’s National Park, bird-watching and art and culinary classes. “Whether you’re here for a wedding, a family vacation or a romantic getaway,” says Lockington. “Cotton Tree is the ideal spot to unwind and reconnect with nature in an exclusive setting.”

Cotton Tree  is now offering special rates of $665 per night, which is a savings of 30%. These rates are offered for the hotel’s first winter season, from now until April 15, 2010. For more information or reservations, please go to the Cottage Hotel.
