During the first half of the show, attendees listen to music from the Dark Side of the Moon and view the laser shows through 3-D glasses. During the second half, we put on prism glasses and rocked out to Pink Floyd’s The Wall. It was a fun night of great music.

Artist Christo Wraps the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France

The amazing art display titled “Wrapped” is now available to view in Paris, France. Famous artist Christo had the vision to complete the mega pop-up art installation over the iconic Arc de Triomphe. The final art display was completed by his team, due to Christo’s death last year.

“Wrapped” is a a temporary art work that will be on display starting today, Saturday, September 18 to Sunday, October 3, 2021. The art exhibit was initially planned for last year. But due the COVID-19, it’s debut is a year later. The Arch of Triumph is carefully wrapped in over 269,000 square feet of recyclable polypropylene fabric. In addition, the exhibit uses almost 23,000 feet of bright red rope.

What most people don’t realize, is that Christo’s vision for wrapping actually began decades ago. In 1961, Christo met his wife Jeanne-Claude. Soon after, plans began with Christo making his first sketches and photo-montages in 1962 and 1963. In addition, Christo lives near the Arc de Triomphe, so it provides him a daily inspiration.

The impressive monument was designed by Jean Chalgrin in 1806, from orders by Napoleon and inaugurated in 1836. The inauguration is based on the sixth anniversary of the Three Glories—Les Trois Glorieuses. The might arch is 50 meters high and 45 meters in width. In addition, it is 22 meters deep. For years, the monument was the largest triumphal arch in the world. The Paris monument’s design was inspired by the Roman Arch of Titus.

Arc de Triomphe art exbibit by artist Christo

Visitors to Paris will be happy to know is the Arc de Triomphe will remain open to the public all during the wrap exhibit. Of course, the Arc de Triomphe is know all around the world and is located on the famous Champs-Élysées. The famous monument pays tribute to people who both fought and died for France, during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. Hence, visitors, can view names of all French victories and generals inscribed on the monument’s inner and outer surfaces.

The Eternal Flame is found in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It’s good to hear that the flame will continue to burn throughout Christo’s art exhibit. Beneath the arch’s vault lies the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, from World War I.

Sadly, Christo did die on May 31, 2020. He is well known for his large-scale, environmental installations created around the world. Yet, his great project was approved last year by the National Monuments Center. The organization manages the famous Arc de Triomphe plus almost 100 other national monuments across France.

Be sure to view the Christo art exhibit at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France. We offer the best luxury travel packages to popular destinations around the world.

A Sustainable Wellness Hotel is in High Demand for Travelers

The phrase “sustainable wellness hotel” is a popular one in the luxury travel industry. An increasing number of hotels are trying to attract customers with this catch phrase. So what does sustainable wellness mean and what characteristics does a sustainable wellness hotel provide its guests?

Sustainably thinking and acting hotels take the upmost care and responsibility for the environment. They do this in a variety of ways. First, it can be in their selection of food and products or energy generation. Next, it is waste management, regional value creation or the support for social projects. Therefore, the ultimate goal is a holistic concept that blends the sustainable theme into all areas of the hotel. In addition, the hotel’s wellness and spa area are also included.

We want to share two sustainable wellness hotels that offer sustainability into their oases of relaxation and well-being. They deliver sustainability in a number of ways. Each finds their niche and discover how to implement their holistic concepts. These properties have a commitment to sustainability and closely work with partners who share our own values.

In Germany’s Black Forest, Beauty Lies in Nature

The Hotel Schwarzwald Panorama in Germany has implemented sustainable action across almost 100% of the value chain. In addition, it applies to the 850 square meter spa area. Guests can enjoy their mineral thermal swimming pool and saunas. The hotel’s spa team only uses natural cosmetics that are made from organic, plant-based ingredients. These are utilized in all spa treatments.

The goal is to strengthen the skin’s own natural processes and protect it from external influence. Schwarzwald Panorama features the Dr. Hauschka Skin Care treatment concept and offers selected medicinal plants. The spa’s facial and body treatments follow the Pharmos Natur method. In addition, the treatment uses a fresh aloe vera leaf and can be booked as a relaxing massage. Lastly, try a stimulating detox or anti-stress treatment.

Wellness in Zermatt – Utilizing Potent Elixirs of Local Fruits

At the new Ashram SPA of the CERVO Mountain Resort, only natural cosmetics and care products are used. The soothing and moisturizing energy of the aloe vera plant is magical. In addition, the healing and invigorating effects of alpine herbs are popular too. Plus, experience the full power of the Valais apricot.

“Over centuries, we have refined how to use the power of nature in different cultures. The insights serve as the basis for the holistic program of treatments and rituals we offer guests at CERVO.”

All products used at the Zermatt in Switzerland are free of animal testing, gluten and silicone. Hence, they are also both vegan and non-comedogenic. The beautiful, open spa area is designed with natural materials. For example, you will find plenty of space for self-discovery and deep relaxation. Simply relax and stroll through the alpine herb garden. Be pampered with a Bhutanese hot stone bath or a Tibetan honey treatment. In the end, everyone finds peace, relaxation and mindfulness in their own way, at this luxurious northern European sauna landscape.

Onboard—alcoholic beverages, Wi-Fi, and specialty dining. In addition, gratuities for the staff and crew, plus free transfers to and from the ship and airport,

Everyone is aware that the cruise ship industry was directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Sailing options are now increasing as pent-up travel demand increases. The most popular cruise names offer all-inclusive pricing. These small-and-medium-size ships include: Regent, Silversea, Seabourn, Crystal, Windstar, Oceania, Viking, Azamara, and SeaDream.

7 Things to Experience and Love Aboard an Inaugural Cruise

An Immaculate, Sparkling Environment
– Just like a new house or car, there’s a certain appeal to being on a brand-new ship. As a example, accommodations have no wear and tear, and there’s no sign of the passengers who have come before. Every part of the ship is in untouched condition. The rooms are pristine, the carpets spotless, and every dish, sheet and towel has never been used. Is there such a thing as a new-ship smell? There’s only one way to find out, but definitely yes

The VIP Feeling of Exclusivity
– You’ve been written into a page of history. You become a member of the “elite” group of passengers present for the very first sailing of a new ship. Not to mention, there are some serious bragging rights. Feel proud and say, “I was on the maiden voyage of that beautiful ship“.

A Memorable Voyage
– New cruise ships frequently offer mementos to passengers of a maiden voyage. When Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 launched, she offered “Limited Edition” QM2 maiden-voyage commemorative items. They included t-shirts, playing cards, cups and saucers, stamps, baseball caps and key chains. Even painted ostrich eggs! These small souvenirs are a tangible way to remember your voyage. Sometimes the lines even go a bit further. The cruise lines will give each cabin a very special present. It is usually customized and worth $50 or more.

Global Celebrations
Depending on the significance of the ship, there may be a very impressive pomp-and-circumstance inaugural ceremony. May may join esteemed guests from all over the world. Then, too, the arrival of a new ship in port may be cause for local celebrations all along the voyage. Along with festivities in several cities, during the course of the itinerary.

Introductory Pricing
– To create interest in the ship, some maiden voyages offer rates on an itinerary that will be priced significantly higher in the future. Since public opinion has not yet been formed and the cruise lines are eager to put their best foot forward. Therefore, the inaugural sailing of a ship can sometimes translate to a steal on cruise fares.

Customized Services
– Because the shipboard routine is still fluid, the ship’s staff tends to be quite flexible. Things like menus, seating options and the scheduling of on-board activities are a top priority. In addition, there is an accommodating flow in areas that won’t be possible on later cruises as schedules solidify.

Beyond Special Amenities
– Positive word of mouth is the key to better booking for future sailings. Hence, the new cruise ships may offer extra special food options, entertainment and activities. Passengers on a maiden voyage can take advantage of perks that may not exist on future sailings.

There is unquestionably something special about being on board a cruise ship during the inaugural cruise. Be are that these voyages do fill up early. Please do your research of upcoming maiden voyages. You can contact The Life of Luxury to help you plan that perfect luxury cruise.

Take advantage of the over 70 new cruise ships planned between now and 2027. Return soon to read about the latest, luxury cruise industry news.
