Day 1

Day 2

Join your driver once again for a scenic journey to Myrdalsjokull (approx 2.5 hours) along the southern coastline. Day 3

2022 MIAMI DESIGN DISTRICT DESIGN COMMISSION: ROCK | ROLL BY GERMANE BARNES

ABOUT: The Miami Design District has awarded Miami-based architect and designer, Germane Barnes, the 2022 Miami Design District Annual Design Commission. Rock | Roll is a multifaceted installation that draws on the vibrancy of Miami Carnival to honor the BIPOC communities that contribute to Miami’s polyethnic culture. Barnes designed a series of massive, whimsical capsules that rock back-and-forth when activated by users and feature vibrant colors reminiscent of Carnival’s feathered costumes and the city’s water-friendly lifestyle.

With a nod to steel drums and Soca music, Barnes also designed wind chimes, hundreds of which will be hung in the neighborhood’s trees. Rock | Roll will also include a free-floating dome suspended overhead and animated by light and sound, which will serve as an anchor to a communal and lively commission. Soon to be installed in the Miami Design District as the annual Design Commission, Barnes’ creative — and massive– interactive installation is expected to draw visitors on a global scale.

DANIEL ARSHAM | THE ARES HOUSE

ABOUT: In a collaborative effort between The Alexander Team and Everyrealm, comes the launch of ‘The Row,” an exclusive collection of metaverse real estate featuring architecture designed by a variety of talented artists. The 30-piece collection, made up of one-of-one NFTs, will live on the Mona platform. This piece (pictured above), from The Row collection and created by Daniel Arsham, is the inspiration for the exhibition concept.

CRAIG ROBINS COLLECTION: TWO OF THE SAME KIND
ABOUT: The Craig Robins Collection consists of contemporary art and innovative design. It displays within the Miami Design District headquarters of DACRA and rotating on a bi-annual basis. This year, “Two of The Same Kind” highlights the work of Marlene Dumas and Jana Euler, two artists whose painting and drawing practices are broadly represented in the Collection holdings.

The theme of dualism threads through two portraits by pop icon Andy Warhol. Both commissioned decades ago by Craig Robin’s mother and Jackie Soffer’s mother. More than a hundred works on view present an expansive overview of figurative art from the last three decades. Plus, the multifaceted Collection also features design pieces by the recently acquired Sasha Gordon. Also by established favorites such as Zaha Hadid, Jean Prouvé, Marc Newson and Maarten Baas.

SAATCHI YATES | TESFAYE URGESSA

ABOUT: This November, Saatchi Yates Miami will temporarily open a solo exhibition of new work by Ethiopian Contemporary artist Tesfaye Urgessa. It coincides with his presentation at the Rubell Museum, opening December 2022. Saatchi Yates Miami is situated in the Miami Design District. Found next to the Institute of Contemporary Art and the de la Cruz Collection.

Born in 1983 in Ethiopia, Tesfaye studied under master Tadesse Mesfin at Staatlichen Akademie in Stuttgart. He later emigrated to work in Germany. Thus, through these experiences, Ugressa connected Ethiopian iconography and a deep fascination with traditional figurative painting. As a result, it creates a unique and striking language which portrays race and the politics of identity.

PRIZM ART FAIR | PRIZM 2022: CONTEMPORARY AFRICAN ART FAIR

ABOUT: This year, the neighborhood is thrilled to host its first-ever art fair aside from Design Miami/: Prizm 2022 Contemporary African Art Fair. Celebrating its 10th Anniversary, Prizm 2022 will present Vernacular À la Mode. Hence, there are presentations of select galleries and artists. They will explore how vernacular modes of artmaking originating in global African contexts have influenced the cultivation of fine art practice worldwide.

The Reserve at Mayakoba development is from leading asset management firm Sancus Capital Partners in partnership with Inmobilia. Luxury watch brand Frederique Constant introduces three new variations of the Classics Carree Automatic watch collection.  Going back to its original era and the roaring twenties, the new watches emerge with a stylistic audacity.  Yes, the resulting imprint is still perceptible.

The new Classics Carree Automatic luxury watch collection is very refined.  The stunning rose gold-plated or steel timepieces rely on a minimalist style. They include baton indexes, dauphine hands and date. In addition, a dial with a subtle guilloché pattern gives the Classics Carrée Automatic a rare elegance for aesthete collectors.

Classics Carree Automatic

The new Classics Carree Automatic watches from Frederique Constant are available in three versions. Each is powered by the FC-303 caliber offering 38 hours of power reserve. The caliber is clearly visible through the sapphire caseback. Continuing, the most sober and classic come with a steel case, silver dial and black leather strap. The most modern comes in the same case with a blue dial on a matching bracelet in the same tone. It’s topstitched in blue. The most chic and precious prefers a pink gold-plated case with shared indexes and hands, on a brown strap.

First launched in 2003, the Classics Carree Automatic is evolving again and significantly. First, a major change is the Heart Beat opening closes. Plus, the housing is the well-kept secret of the Swiss Made mechanism of the timepiece. Hence, this is how the face of a new, much more streamlined dial emerges. For example, the large Roman numerals give way to applied indexes, doubled at noon. The style is timeless and much closer to the aesthetic canons of the 20s.

The date window at 6 o’clock reproduces the rectangular line of the case. Therefore, it is dressed in a frame of the same finish as the latter, also shared by the indexes.

You will find in the center of the dial, the most refined finishes. First, a rectangle with the exact proportions of the 30.4 x 33.3 mm case. It’s closed by a “railway” type timer, typical of the 1920s and the Art Deco movement that ran through them. Next, a very fine grooving dresses it. As a result, it offers a sole gaze of its owner.

This subtlety makes it possible to offer a better contrast to the set of three hands. Of course, the hours and minutes are shaped in the Dauphine style. Thus, a geometry is also characteristic of the past century. This simple, refined shape allows the time to be read perfectly in all circumstances. This is due to two facets. Each is oriented at two divergent angles. Therefore, at least one of the two always captures the light. Brillant design!

With a length of 477 kilometers, the scenic Weser River is the longest river in northwest Germany. It begins at the confluence of both the Fulda and Werra rivers in Hannoversch Münden. Also knows as Hann. Münden. The upper section of the Weser river runs through the Lower Saxony region of the Weser Hills. Continuing, the lower and tidal sections of the river below Bremen, flow through marshes, bogs and Geest. Geest describes the slightly raised landscape of sand and gravel soils, along with shrubby vegetation.

Luxury watch brand Arnold & Son introduces the Luna Magna Ultimate II luxury watch. This stunning, high jewelry moonphase timepiece features Lagoon-blue Paraiba Tourmaline and a diamond moon. The blue-green glow of the Paraíba tourmaline is the cornerstone of an exceptional new creation by Arnold & Son. The new watch was introduced to the world at last month’s Geneva Watch Days event.

Arnold & Son is named after John Arnold, an English watchmaker of the 18th century. Hence, the legendary watchmaker company was recognized for his ingenuity and work on marine chronometers. Luna Magna Ultimate II

With this launch, Arnold & Son releases a new high-jewelry version of its beloved three-dimensional moon model. Above and beyond the technical prowess of including a 12 mm lunar sphere into a watch, the piece features superlative gem-setting. From pavé to invisible and channel setting, Arnold & Son draws on watchmaking savoir-faire of the highest level. Thus, the end result is the limited production of eight Luna Magna Ultimate II timepieces.

The Luna Magna Ultimate II is adorned with PVD-treated ruthenium crystals. The dial adopts the same shade as the Paraíba and is encircled by baguette-cut diamonds. As one of the rarest and most precious gemstones, the pavé-sets on the three-dimensional astronomical moon.

The 44 mm diameter case is crafted from 18K white gold and is studded with no fewer than 7.62 ct of exceptional-quality diamonds. Also, is the extraordinary color of the Paraíba tourmaline. It is a rare and much sought-after stone. Therefore, the finishing touch on this exotic and refined piece is the blue-green tones bordering on turquoise.

A Precious Lagoon

A fine ring surrounds the new Luna Magna Ultimate II watch. It is formed of 112 baguette-cut diamonds totaling 5.90 ct. They overhang the flat surface of the bezel, appearing as if simply placed upon it, floating over its edge. Thus, it allows light to pass through them like an open prism. This is known as an “invisible” setting, generating unique sparkle. Continuing, its glittering appearance is due to millions of pure ruthenium crystals.

The extremely hard metal is found in platinum mines. This is due to being present in the same ore. However, ruthenium is much rarer than platinum. Hence, for the Luna Magna Ultimate II, the ruthenium is reformed into crystals and dyed using complex processes. As a result, it is regularly found on Arnold & Son’s timepieces and is unique in the watchmaking world.

A Tourmaline Night

A traditional dial is located at 12 o’clock. It is marked with 12 signature Arnold & Son Roman numerals. For example, this off-center sub-dial owes its pristine, slight milky white hue to opal. Underneath the time display, Luna Magna’s three-dimensional moon takes on a new appearance. Therefore, the white gold globe is entirely pavé-set. It is split into 161 brilliant-cut diamonds. This represents the illuminated side of the moon. Lastly, it’s the same number of Paraíba tourmalines for the portion in shadow.

Geneva Watch Days 2022 took place from August 29th until September 1st in Geneva, Switzerland. After two successful editions, the multi-brand watch show is back for a third consecutive year.

Geneva Watch Days is a unique watchmaking fair. Therefore, Frederique Constant introduces two new pieces to their popular Manufacture and Classics collection. The new watch models are – the Classics Heart Beat Manufacture and the Classics Art Déco Carrée for ladies.

Featuring at 6 o’clock the famous Heart Beat aperture and a clearly stated classicism, the Classics Heart Beat Manufacture today reveals a brand new look. PLus there is a new dial, new indexes and a new 39 mm case. The watch is available in two limited editions. There is a 18K pink gold model (93 timepieces) and one in steel (930 timepieces).

The recast of a cult watch of the Maison, the timepiece that began the era of Manufacture movements at Frederique Constant. Also, the watches are fitted with the Manufacture FC-930-3 calibre. Thus, the proud descendent of the FC-910 calibre, the first movement developed in-house in 2004.
