The Tour de France is considered to be the greatest cycling race in the world. It got its start in the early 1900s and it didn’t take long before it became fiercely competitive. It attracted thousands of viewers right from the start. Its long legacy of riders going to crazy lengths to win started in 1904 with the first reports of cheating.

The Tour de France was founded by Henri Desgrange. The first Tour de France was in 1903, taking 19 days at six stages and covering 2828 kilometers.

Cyclists were expected to pedal through the night. There were no actual breaks for sleep. Bike changes weren’t allowed. No outside assistance was allowed for repairs and punctures. It was all entirely up to the cyclists.

The race started as a publicity stunt for a French sports newspaper called L’Auto. This was a phenomenal success; it destroyed its competitor, Le Velo. Sixty of the bravest, gutsiest, toughest cyclists of the day started the race.

Keys To Reducing Stress

Posted on July 3, 2008

We all experience it at one time or another; this trespasser called stress. It is perhaps the number one cause of most health problems today.

Let’s explore 6 ways to deal with the stress in your life in a healthy and effective manner.

  1. Talk about the problems you are experiencing with friends, loved ones or a professional. Keeping everything bottled up will only create more problems later on. Join a support group with people experiencing similar problems.
  2. Exercise often. Go to the park and walk for 20-30 minutes either every day or every other day. Exercise relieves tension and produces a calming effect. Perhaps joining a gym with a friend would be more to your liking.
  3. Yoga exercises. Sit in a quiet room alone and begin breathing exercises. Choose a mantra which will help you to stay focused.

    Baume Mercier Diamant

    Posted on July 1, 2008

The women’s Baume Mercier Diamant series provides a sleek fit and is ideal for any dress occasion.  Although it certainly can be worn at any event, the class and style definitely make it a valuable authentic piece of jewelry.  With its polished stainless steel and the sparkling diamonds, this series is ideal for every woman to have.

It can be difficult looking past the expensive price tag, but this is one series that offers a reasonable price for what you get.  There is one style that stands out from the collection and it just so happens to be the cheapest as well.  With a blue lizard skin strap and a beautiful silver steel case, this watch offers more of a casual look.  It is perfect for wearing around the town and can equally be worn during business meetings as well.

If the blue lizard skin strap does not quite appeal to you, it is not much of a price increase to get to stainless steel.  For just $300 more at $1,450, this style within the collection has a stainless steel bracelet and a stainless steel case to fancy over.  The three hands have a quartz movement that flows over an attractive light pink dial.  This too can be worn in almost any occasion or circumstance.

Caneel Bay - St John Luxury

    Posted on June 27, 2008

Caneel Bay invites you to ‘disconnect’ in pristine natural surroundings and low-key luxury. The exclusive resort, nestled within the Virgin Islands National Park on St. John, remains faithful to the vision of founder Laurance Rockefeller and his reverence for the environment.

Seven secluded white sand beaches border 170 lush acres where Caneel’s accommodations have been artfully built to blend into the landscape. A true escape, the resort remains purposefully absent of modern glitz, digital distractions and the furious pace of the world at home.

Caneel Bay is a Rosewood Resort found on the pristine island of St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The resort recently took the top ranking in the category of Tennis Resorts and Camps in a survey taken by Tennis Resorts Online.

Caneel Bay was awarded the number one position in the Caribbean and number five overall. That makes it the only resort in the Caribbean region to make the Top Ten. Who knew you could find world class tennis on St. John’s?

La Grande Dame by Riva Collection

    Posted on June 26, 2008

Veuve Clicquot has a thing about teaming up with high-end renowned brands to offer exceptional indulgences for champagne enthusiasts, time and gain.

Following Globalight’s success, now they have collaborated with Italian yacht maker Riva to unveil the La Grande Dame by Riva Collection. Since popping a bottle of champagne while cruising through serene waters is mandatory (at least I think it is), this luxurious set includes the Cruise Collection, Cruiser Bag, and ice bucket for intoxicating celebrations.

While the Cruise Collection, a “made to measure” piece contains 4 bottles of La Grande Dame 98, 2 magnums of La Grande Dame 88, 6 champagne flutes Riedel and 6 water tumblers, plates, table mats and cutlery, the Cruiser Bag, a limited edition of 300 pieces only, contains a bottle of La Grande Dame 98 and two champagne flutes.

For $80,000, you can dare to spoil yourself with the Cruise Collection. And that much sum hits you hard then you can get high with the Cruiser Bag for $425 only.

If you are planning a bash to celebrate your darling’s birthday or a multimillion dollar business venture on your luxurious yacht over the Mediterranean waters, then the Cruise Collection will agree with the occasion for sure.  Source

Don’t Be a Pill Popping Addict

    Posted on June 26, 2008

Have you ever peaked into a friend’s medicine cabinet and shocked to think you were staring into a pharmacy’s inventory stockroom?  Well you’re not alone.

Recent studies show that more and more Americans are taking prescription drugs, and in increasing quantities.

Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation, a nonprofit that analyzes health care issues, says that from 1994 to 2005, it’s estimated that the number of prescriptions purchased increased 71% (from 2.1 billion to 3.6 billion) compared with a 9% growth in the U.S. population.
