New Herringbone Restaurant Coming to Hawaii

Herringbone is a popular ocean-to-table restaurant concept. Tropical Hawaii will become the latest destination for a trendy Herringbone restaurant.

Hakkasan Group is a respected, global hospitality company. This international brand has opened establishments in United States, Europe, Asia, plus the Middle East. The very first Herringbone restaurant opened in La Jolla, California near San Diego. There is much anticipation as the Herringbone Waikiki nears it grand opening.

The new Herringbone restaurant in Hawaii is scheduled to open later this spring. It is being designed by Ocio Design Group. They are utilizing elements from both the La Jolla and Santa Barbara restaurants. What is exciting is the inclusion of a fresh, indoor-outdoor design that will represent the tropical feel of Hawaii.

The restaurant’s ocean-to-table concept is being created by Chef Brian Malarkey. The result is spectacular. The interior design creates a coastal restaurant vibe. The building was a brick warehouse but cleverly utilizes its bow truss ceiling. Hanging down are a series of upside down boats and canoes. But not just for show, they have been morphed into light fixtures. The fixtures use vintage Edison bulbs and are surrounded by olive trees that are imported.

The goal of this new ocean-to-table concept restaurant is to source line-caught fish, in addition to the freshest products. Coming from the ocean, ranch and field, all menu ingredients will be obtained within only 350 yards from the Pacific Ocean. Now that’s fresh!

The Herringbone Waikiki restaurant will provide wonderful views. It can be found on the open-air, third-level of the Grand Lanai of International Market Place in Waikiki on the island of Oahu. Enjoy the incredible hanging gardens that will surround the expansive, 2,000-square-foot lanai. The wood and flora “walls” are made from weathered wooden boxes. Each include fragrant herbs, that literally hang from the ceiling at different heights.

The dining atmosphere will be spectacular. The majority of the seating will be on the lanai. The Herringbone Waikiki ambiance will definitely be relaxed. Enjoy your fine dining experience with leather wing back chairs plus teal-colored metal chairs. The chair cushions pair perfectly with the tables. They are made from blackened steel and zinc, weathered oak, butcher block, as well as white-washed teak. As a result, the feeling while you dine at the Herringbone restaurant seems un-rushed.

Plan a visit to Hawaii and be sure to dine at the new Herringbone restaurant on Oahu. Vacation in luxury on the islands of Hawaii. Be sure to come back again and follow this luxury blog for more luxury travel stories.

Excellent Italian Food at Bencotto Italian Kitchen in San Diego

The phone receptionist at Bencotto Italian Kitchen said we were very lucky to get a reservation for two at 7:30 pm (the same day), but that she just had a reservation cancellation. Good sign or bad sign? — We’ll just have to see … but we expect a wonderful fine dining experience.

Arriving, we were promptly seated at a table for two overlooking the restaurant on the second floor, (good table to view the goings-on). We were ushered through a vibrant scene that seemed to grow by the minute. Animated conversation permeated the atmosphere, as everyone seemed to really be enjoying themselves – (a good sign).

Our Bencotto Italian Kitchen server, a young lady named Corrie welcomed us and gave us the low-down on their specials. A Napa Valley Alias Chardonnay ($11) and a Birra Moretti (Italian beer) ($7) were ordered to start things off.

A shared appetizer of eggplant parmigiana ($14), was ordered and was delicious. My son then ordered the Bencotto house lasagna alla bolognese, (meat and besciamella sauce) ($18), and I ordered house-made gnocchi al formaggi, (excellently prepared potato dumplings in a beautiful Alfredo-type sauce)($16). Both were excellently prepared. — All pastas are freshly made on the premises, which is definitely a plus.

Lastly, a complimentary after-dinner offering of Lemoncello topped the evening off. Unfortunately, there was no room in our satisfied tummies for dessert.

This wonderful place must be a gold mine! Food this delicious served in such an electrically vibrant atmosphere has to be a recipe for success.

If you’re looking for a quiet intimate atmosphere where hearing every spoken word is important, you may want to consider another restaurant. However, if you desire some of the most excellently prepared Italian food in San Diego, Bencotto Italian Kitchen is a must!

Buon Appetito!

Enjoying a fine dining experience is always a great time to spend with friends and family. When in San Diego, be sure to eat at Bencotto Italian Kitchen restaurant. Ciera Steak + Chophouse – Lake Tahoe’s Only AAA Four Diamond Restaurant

During a recent visit to the beautiful Lake Tahoe area, we had dinner at Ciera Steak + Chophouse restaurant, which is located on the ground floor of the luxury MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa.

Simply stated, Ciera Steak + Chophouse offered superb service and a truly exquisite fine dining experience. The restaurant is only AAA Four Diamond restaurant in all of Lake Tahoe. The establishment has won that prestigious award eight years in a row, from 2008 to 2015. They have also been voted as Lake Tahoe’s Best Restaurant for Dinner, as well as the Best Steakhouse.

As we entered the restaurant’s luxurious lobby, we were greeted by a welcoming hostess, who led my wife and I to our private booth. The center of the restaurant’s dining room is surrounded by booths that are decorated with red drapes for privacy. The booth’s seating is red leather and the soft lighting produced a relaxing ambiance.

Ciera Steak + Chophouse offers a full menu of enticing choices including steak, fish, poultry and even vegetarian entrees. In addition, they offer a popular $35 Prix Fixe menu with 3 courses. The Prix Fixe menu is offered every Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday nights, except for major holidays.

The steakhouse features a stunning glass display of over 300 wines and champagnes from around the world. There’s bound to be something to meet everybody’s personal taste. In addition, you can choose your favorite spirit.

Ciera Steak + Chophouse restaurant - Filet Mignon

I ordered the Caesar Salad with white anchovy fillets to start. My entree was the Filet Mignon – 6oz center cut. The “certified angus beef” steak was served with red wine demi-glace and bearnaise sauce, roasted garlic mashed and blistered asparagus. My wife chose the French Onion Soup with three cheese grantine and Caesar Salad with white anchovy fillets for her first course, followed by Grilled Alaskan King Salmon. It was served with mango and papaya salsa, fried wonton skins with cilantro cream, along with with roasted garlic mashed and blistered asparagus. Both our entrees were cooked to perfection.

There were several desserts that all sounded amazing. I picked the Chocolate Lava Cake. It’s a decadent chocolate warm ganache, with white chocolate spire and served with fresh berries and sauce framboise. It was outstanding! My wife chose the Seasonal Tasting of Berries. It came with an array of blueberries, blackberries, raspberries plus strawberries and Chantilly cream.

We received a special treat when the two Chocolate covered strawberries ice where brought to our table. They were complementary and the perfect way to end our fine dining experience at Ciera.

We both felt the entire meal was delicious and perfectly prepared. From the time we were first seated, the meal service was impeccable. The White-coated waitstaff was both attentive, professional and friendly. We also appreciated the maitre d’ Tommy Walker, stopping by our booth several times to make sure everything was to our liking.

The restaurant is open for dinner Wed through Sun, between 5:30pm to 10pm. The bar is open at 5pm.

Overall, it was a wonderful fine dining experience and I would highly recommend Ciera Steak + Chophouse in the MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa for anybody visiting scenic Lake Tahoe.

Chef Yoshiaki Takazawa and his wife, Akiko, run this hidden restaurant in Tokyo’s Akasaka district. Yoshiaki is well known by the world food trade for his imaginative creations which include Foie gras crème brûlée with mango; smoked Ezo venison; curry ice cream to name a few.

Fresh seasonal ingredients and artistic flair make Aronia de Takazawa a must visit. The emphasis is on fresh seasonal ingredients and the concept is based on the traditional domestic Japanese tea ceremony where the experience is shared with the family.

Angelika Apfelthaler’s dinners are now legendary in Vienna:

Zuhause, which means “at home” in German is operated by husband and wife duo, Canadian Kristi Korotash and Irishman David O’Reilly.

“The Irish and German influences at this club, usually result in the guests joining the chef in a few glasses of wine, often into the “wee hours of the morning” states Kristi.

This super “hush” private supper club likes to keep things far more secret than the masses of “private” supper clubs popping up all over the world. Like the exclusivity? Hush requires their guests to complete questionnaires and provide photos of themselves before they can request an invite to the supper club in the capital’s fancy U Street neighborhood.
