The Jaguar F-TYPE is the first two-seater sports car from luxury car manufacturer Jaguar, since the iconic E-type was first launched 50 years ago.

Jaguar has just released an intriguing movies trailer featuring the new F-Type. The short feature film in association with Ridley Scott Associates will be released later this spring and stars Golden Globe and Emmy Award winning actor, Damian Lewis.

Casper Delaney, Producer, Ridley Scott Associates was quoted, “After weeks and months of working on the script and developing the film with Jaguar, it’s fantastic to see it come to life.” Lana Del Rey, who recently won a BRIT award for Best International Female, wrote the title song “Burning Desire” that was inspired by the Jaguar F-TYPE.

The new F-TYPE sports car is a front-engined, rear-wheel drive convertible that’s been engineered to deliver a pure dynamic driving experience and incredible performance. The F-TYPE is constructed using high strength aluminum architecture.

There will be three different car models available – F-TYPE (with 3-liter supercharged V6, 340hp engine), F-TYPE S (with 3-liter supercharged V6, 380hp engine)and the F-TYPE V8 S (with 5-liter V8, 495hp supercharged engine).

Of course, speed is a popular trademark of any Jaguar luxury car and the F-TYPE will surely not disappoint. The most powerful model, the V8S, will reach 60mph in 4.2 seconds and has a top speed of 186mph. The 380Hp F-TYPE S V6 can reach 60mph in 4.8 seconds and 171mph. Finally, the base F-TYPE V6 can obtain 0-60 in 5.1 seconds, with a top speed of 161mph.

Mercedes, Audi, and BMW continue to be the dominant global luxury car brands. Although Jaguar is still regarded as another luxury car maker, it holds a far less market share compared to the other big 3.

Jaguar is getting close to premiering the luxury car brand’s first two-seat Jaguar roadster since the E-type. This sportscar named the F-type follows the iconic and successful E-type which was the first brand launch since the forgettable X-type more than ten years ago.

The base engine of the F-type is a brand new, supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 that Jaguar developed from its traditional 5.0-liter V-8 engine. The new engine will offer about 340 hp.

A low deck lid plus sliver-thin LED taillights enhance the sensual beauty of this new Jag. Once you get your speed up 60 mph, a spoiler deploys.

We noticed one element that’s missing is the trademark rotary shifter. It’s been replaced by standard automatic shifter which should allow the driver to change gears manually.

The Jaguar F-Type dashboard will feature analog gauges plus toggle switches that remind the driver of classic sports cars from the past. This look is a switch from Jaguar’s more typical design of high-tech controls.

It’s expected that the new 2014 F-type will likely be priced starting at $70,000

Only time will tell how this new Jaguar F-Type will do against the big luxury names – Mercedes, BMW and Audi but Jaguar tradition and ingenuity will definitely put up a good fight.
