As Baselworld 2014 nears (March 27 to April 3), Alpina just introduced a new luxury watch – Startimer Pilot Automatic Chronograph “Black Star”.

The stylish, all black Alpina Startimer Pilot ”Black Star” watch is an addition to the iconic Alpina “Startimer Pilot” professional pilot collection.

The new Alpina luxury watch features a black PVD coated stainless steel case, an applied minutes ring, applied numerals, plus beautiful “sunray” dial finishing.

The “Black Star” model adds luxury finishes that are typically found on elegant watches, in addition to all the professional pilot features the Alpina Startimer Collection is recognized for.

The Startimer Automatic Chronograph includes the Alpina AL-860 Caliber, which offers Alpina AL-860 Automatic Chronograph movement with “Bi-Compax” 60 seconds and 30 minutes small counter layout.

The case-back of the new Alpina Startimer Pilot Automatic Chronograph “Black Star” watch is transparent. The case is 44mm in size and is 100m (300ft) water-resistant.

The watch’s “Bi-Compax” dial layout is perfect for time readability, which is a requirement for professional pilot watches.

Initially making its debut at the Baselworld 2011 show in Geneva, Switzerland, luxury watchmaker Glashütte introduced the original Seventies Panorama Date watch.

Glashütte has enhanced this vintage, watch model with an even richer range of looks. This popular watch model is part of the “20th Century Vintage” collection from Glashütte and was created with the nineteen seventies in mind.

The new watch dial is made of German silver and presented in three options – galvanized ruthenium, galvanized silver, or blue. The stylish ruthenium dial presents a sunburst surface. The stunning silver version is matte. The blue dial features finely graded shading passing from a lighter center to a darker periphery.

The original Seventies Panorama Date was fitted with a hand-crafted four-link steel bracelet. Now there are additional bracelet choices available giving it an even more elegant look.

Another enhancement are the leather and rubber straps. Louisiana Alligator leather straps come in either black, grey or dark blue. They ideally match the three available, watch dial colors.

The rubber straps are water resistant, quite comfortable to wear and enhanced with elaborate laser engravings.

The polished, satin-finished stainless steel case of the Seventies Panorama Date watch features softly flowing curves and represents spirit of the 1970’s decade. The domed sapphire crystal case back provides the ultimate in both comfort and wearability.

Blancpain

Luxury watchmaker Blancpain has been a pioneer since 1930 in the creation of ladies’ watches equipped with self-winding movements.

Just in time for the upcoming Baselworld show in Geneva, Switzerland – Blancpain is proud to introduce the Chronograph Large Date watch. It’s a stunning new luxury watch for contemporary women.

The exciting new Chronograph Large Date luxury watch by Blancpain, associates a dainty mother-of-pearl face and a self-winding heart with several complications within a model featuring generous gem-set lines.

The watch’s shimmering mother-of-pearl dial is encompassed by a minute track that reveals a two-part composition delineated by two waves of 17 variously sized diamonds rippling out from the centre with its chronograph seconds hand.

There’s a double-disc large date display that appears through twin apertures 6 o’clock. At 12 o’clock, the off-centered time display features both Roman hour and minute numerals on a mother-of-pearl subdial. This stunning look creates a unique counterpoint to the Arabic numerals on the chronograph counters.

The Chronograph Large Date watch’s 38.6 mm-diameter case is made of 18-carat red gold and set with 40 diamonds. The case is water-resistant to 3 bar.

Breguet

Baselworld 2013 – The World Watch and Jewellery Show is near and scheduled from April 25 to May 2, 2013.

Luxury watchmaker Breguet has just announced the release of their new version of the iconic pilot’s watch, the stunning Type XXII – in 18ct rose gold. Type XXII 3880 is the first series-made mechanical chronograph whose frequency has been raised to 10 Hz.

This luxury watch houses a Breguet chronograph movement with silicon escapement and flat balance spring. The frequency of the Type XXII has been increased to 10 Hertz – or 72,000 vibrations per hour.

By using silicon, Breguet’s Type XXII 3880 timepiece offer more lightweight components and avoids the lubrication issues that are produced by higher frequency watches.

At 3 o’clock is a 24-hour night-and-day indicator, indicating either daytime or nighttime in the area covered by the second time-zone.

Featuring a classic 18K rose gold casing along with a bi-rotational bezel, this new, self-winding Type XXII chronograph houses a flyback function with a totaliser that returns to zero. It then instantly re-starts all in the same operation. Therefore the start function and readout are twice as precise.

The watch’s dial features a second time-zone indicator with an aperture for a date calendar. Breguet’s Type XXII watch is individually signed and numbered and also comes fitted with an integrated, brow in color leather strap.

The watch diameter is 44 mm and has a screw-locked crown. The luxury timepiece is also water-resistant to 10 bar (100 m).

Bulova Accutron – Sir Richard Branson

At Baselworld, Bulova Corporation announced that global innovator and entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson was named brand ambassador for Bulova Accutron.

At BaselWorld 2011, Swiss watchmaker HD3 Complications will introduce its latest luxury watch design – HD3 Slyde.
