Ritz-Carlton Launches New Dove Mountain Rangers Adventure Program
Ritz Carlton, Dove Mountain
The Ritz-Carlton is globally known for its luxury and high-class accommodations. In fact, it’s the only hotel with its own inspired adjective, “ritzy.” Now it wants you to recognize them as adventurers. The luxury Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain located in Tucson Arizona, is utilizing its desert location to create an adventure-filled playground for children and adult guests.
Set in the scenic town of Marana with Sonoran Desert as its backdrop, the Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain is nothing short of extraordinary. It cleverly infuses luxury into the Southwestern adventure experience. Led by the resort’s mascot, Ranger Ron and Dove Mountain Rangers, guests partake on a geo-caching desert treasure hunt with their GPS to seek mysterious caches where resort collectibles are hidden. Along the way, guests can enjoy the resort’s Wild Burro, Alamo Spring, and Upper Javelina trails. Uncovered treasures can be kept by guests as souvenirs.
In addition to the treasure hunt, the Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain also offers the desert tortoise and desert wildlife experience. For this program children are introduced to desert creatures such as the Desert Tortoise, friendly tarantula, and non-poisonous snakes, all of whom live with and are cared for by trained Ranger staff. At night, Dove Mountain Rangers present their exclusive “Bug Experience” allowing children to get up close and personal with ordinary and rare bugs from the 850 acres surrounding the resort.
For adults, the Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain offers a 90-minute sunset hike through the lush Sonoran Desert. This 2.7-mile hike features the glorious Arizona sunset, hundreds of towering saguaros, and native flora and fauna rarely seen in some desert locales. The excursion ranges in elevation from 2,700 feet to nearly 3,400 feet. At the end of their hike, guests are rewarded with a refreshing cocktail at the resort’s chic Ignite Lounge.
To encourage youth interest in nature and wildlife, Dove Mountain Rangers are introducing an added badge program this spring, allowing children to win awards for their completion of different adventures. This program also offers Southwest arts and crafts activities, ecology walks, s’mores-making, movies, and video game competitions to round out the full program.
Activities at The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain are periodically rotated and changed, so it’s best to contact the resort (520-572-3000) for their most current adventure programs.
