For those of love Oprah Winfrey, one of the events they would look forward to each year was her “Oprah’s Favorite Things” annual show. The popular show aired between 2002 to 2010, but was not shown in with in 2009.

“Oprah’s Favorite Things” returned this year and the two-hour episode aired on her OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network channel, and it was a moving experience as Oprah Winfrey paid tribute to a group of very surprised Military Spouse of the Year finalists.

As in the past, Oprah unveiled must-have gifts for this upcoming holiday season. One of the hit gifts was surprising the military spouses with a once in a lifetime trip to the amazing Fiji Islands and Namale, Fiji’s #1 Resort & Spa.

Oprah’s team worked with the Tourism Fiji, the incredible, tropical Fiji getaway included two round trip tickets on Air Pacific, Fiji’s International airline and Pacific Sun, along with a five-night stay at the luxurious all-inclusive Namale Resort & Spa.

It was a special moment for many of the military wives as tears of joy flowed. Eight of the spouses had never had a honeymoon, and others had not been on a vacation with just their spouse in many years.

During the ceremony, copal incense and herbs are placed on vibrant red volcanic rock.  Inside the Temazcal, participants in the ceremony sit in a circle where the herbal steam from the hot rock begins a process of purification through perspiration. At the conclusion of each treatment, guests emerge renewed with the Temazcal eliminating uric, lactic and alkaline acid from the blood stream and balancing the body’s PH levels.

Tanama Eco Spa is offering spa enthusiasts to an all-encompassing jungle experience at the Dominican Republic’s top organic spa.  Casa Bonita’s two new Taino Steam Bath treatments being offered will pamper and spoil guests with treatments meant to transport the guest into the heart of mother earth.

    Duration: 60 minutes / Cost: $75

    Taino Detox Bath

Organic ingredients such as coffee and cacao enrich the Temazcal steam with rich antioxidants and nutritional benefits during this cleansing therapy. The treatment culminates with a clay massage, which hydrates the skin as the sound of the river lulls the guest to a state of pure relaxation.

    Duration: 90 minutes / Price: $110

The Rare Kermode Sea Bear of British Columbia – Canada

The Rare Kermode Sea Bear of British Columbia - Canada
    Photo: King Pacific Lodge

The only place on earth to find the rare, Kermode sea bear is in the ancient Great Bear Rainforest of British Columbia, Canada. The Kermode sea bear has long been renowned as an omen of peace and harmony; a rare flash of pure white in a vast blanket of lush green terrain.

You may recognize the Kermode sea bear as the official mascot of the recent 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. A rare Kermode sea Bear lives within the 25,000-square-mile Great Bear Rainforest.

The Gitgaâ™at First Nations community lives along the beautiful British Columbia’s Northwest coast. To them, the Kermode or more commonly known as the Spirit Bear, serves as a reminder from the creator of the universe of the harsh conditions of the previous ice age.

The Kermode bear is reported to be one of the rarest animals in the world. Sadly it’s estimated that only approximately 100 Kermode bears may be alive today.

For the opportunity to see rare Kermode bear and everything that B.C. (British Columbia) has to offer, consider a visit to this magnificent place.

Whale of an Experience: King Pacific Lodge will again offer its Whale of an Experience program next summer season. Princess Package: This package makes it easy to put the queen of your castle on a pedestal and pamper her in one of the world’s most exclusive destinations: the Great Bear Rainforest. Guests will stay in the Princess Royal Suite which boasts two floors of luxury accommodations and panoramic views of the ocean, rainforest and nearby waterfall.

Suite Deal for Families: You and your family will experience life away from the electronic world and introduce your children to multiple expeditions of fun, education, adventure as well as imbue respect for the natural world and other cultures. The customized expeditions are intended to maximize time together as well as to share in the excitement that each day brings.

Renew & Reconnect: Recognizing the importance of family and of reconnecting with loved ones, King Pacific Lodge, A Rosewood Resort is offering guests the opportunity to reconnect & renew with family on a trip of a lifetime and a rare chance to create shared memories to be treasured for years.

The King Pacific Lodge was the first private tourism operator to sign a working protocol with a First Nation in British Columbia thereby recognizing their rights and title to their traditional territory. Since then, the Gitgaâ™ at Nation and King Pacific Lodge have worked together on a wide variety of programs including a student mentoring program, joint educational initiatives and hospitality training.

Prague: Picture Perfect for a Pre-Christmas Shopping Trip

Christmas Market - Old Town Square - Prague

Prague is a great city to visit, especially in December when the city’s famous Christmas Markets are in full swing with lights, carols and spirit!

One of Europe’s most gorgeous cities is Prague – and no trip to Europe is complete without a visit there.

Think cobble stone streets, great beer, gorgeous historical architecture and some of the best hotels in the Czech Republic, and you’re only just scratching the surface of this gorgeous city.

Winter (or more specifically, December) is an excellent time to visit Prague because of the wonderful Christmas Markets hel there. The entire city center of Prague glows with Christmas lights and decorations. The Christmas Markets run daily during December in the Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square, Havelske Trziste and Namesti Republiky.

Grab a cup of hot wine and spend some time outdoors shopping for gifts at the wooden stalls set up in the squares, enjoy the carols and feel the Christmas spirit!

And, of course, there’s more to Prague than excellent Christmas shopping (although, that is a good reason to visit Prague in December). There are loads of beautiful sites that are perfect all year round.

The Prague Astronomical Clock, found on the southern wall of the Old Town City Hall is a must see (it’s so beautiful that it’s rumored that the government purposely gouged out the clockmaker’s eyes so he couldn’t construct a similar clock for any other country)!

Right out of a fairy tale (and home of the Czech Crown Jewels) is the Prague Castle, which is one of the biggest castles in the world. It overlooks the Vltava River and gives visitors an excellent view of the area.

And, you will definitely want to take a stroll across the Charles Bridge, and visit the Old Town Bridge Tower, which is a gothic tower constructed in the 1300’s. This is where you can get the best views of the old town and the river.

For travelers looking for the best in accommodation, there are a few great luxury hotels in Prague, and visitors to the city definitely have their choice in both modern and historical types of places to stay!

    Mandarin Oriental Prague.

The Mandarin Oriental Prague is a romantic boutique hotel on the left bank of the Vltava River. Set within a carefully restored 14th Century monastery, all of the rooms and suites here are individually designed, and guests get excellent views of some of Prague’s most scenic streets from here.

    Kempinski Hybernska Prague

Kempinsky Hybernska Prague is another good choice. This hotel is located right in the heart of the city and has maintained the original façade of the building, while totally modernizing the interior. Lovers of “old meets new” will really enjoy this boutique hotel. Most rooms here feature a separate bedroom and living area which is especially convenient if you plan on entertaining any friends during your stay.

    Hotel Yasmin Prague

And, for lovers of modern design, no trip to Prague is complete without a stay at Hotel Yasmin, which is conveniently located just around the corner from the Wenceslas Square. This particular hotel is really close to the markets, sites and tourist attractions in the city, which makes it a good base for sightseers.
