Over the last 12 years, Celtic Woman has been an incredible phenomenon, featuring classic Irish music. Many people first hear about the popular group from their numerous TV specials on PBS. The current Celtic Woman – Voices of Angels tour offers a blend of both modern hit ballads and more traditional Celtic songs.

Performing to sold out shows all around the world, about 4 million people have had the pleasure of seeing Celtic Woman in person. The group has produced 12 albums and sold greater than 10 million records. Released in 2016, their latest album is titled Voices of Angels. It includes 16 songs, such as music hits “My Heart Will Go On” and “Time To Say Goodbye”, along with “Ave Marie”, “Mo Ghile Mear” (My Gallant Star) and “Across The World”. The songs were recorded with the sensational 72-piece Orchestra of Ireland.

The current all-women group is made up of four, extremely talented performers – Susan McFadden, Mairéad Carlin, Éabha McMahon, plus violinist Tara McNeill. Like the show’s title, they truly have “voices of angels.”

In 2012, Susan McFadden became part of Celtic Woman. She has been part of the current group the longest. Susan was born in Dublin and was musically trained at the famous Billie Barry Stage School. She has performed in both television and theater. While living in London, she took part in “Grease” and “Legally Blond.” In Dublin, Susan played the role of “Kathy” in Singin’ in the Rain.

Máiread Carlin joined Celtic Woman in 2013. She was born in the northern Ireland city of Derry. When done with her studies at Trinity College of Music in London, Mairead signed a recording deal with Decca Records. Soon after, she launched her debut solo album, titled “Songbook.” Carlin has toured across both the UK and Ireland with Don McLean. In addition, she sang with the National Symphony Orchestra for RTE TV. As the current members of the Celtic Woman 12-year-legacy, she was asked what do you think makes this incarnation different? She replied, “We all come from such different backgrounds: Eabha comes from a traditional Irish way of singing called Sean Nós. Susan trained in musical theater, Tara is a classically trained violinist and I come from a classical/folk background. It’s not often that fusion works but for some reason it just does with us. It’s amazing.”

Eabha McMahon made her debut with Celtic Woman debut in late 2015. She also took part in the Celtic Woman Public Television special, DVD and album, titled “Destiny.” At the young age of 15, Éabha became the youngest member to join Anúna. They were the original Riverdance choir. Eabha finished her first solo album last year. She is a fluent Irish speaker and was brought up both singing and speaking Irish at her Dublin home. To be part of Celtic Woman is a wonderful experience and she’s proud to be representing her Irish roots. When asked if the group has any rituals before hitting the stage? “Yes. We have a group ritual whereby we all stand side stage and link our baby fingers together while standing in a circle. It symbolizes unity and sisterhood. No matter what happens on that stage we have each other covered. Nobody stands alone on that stage. It’s a symbol of support and empowerment. It really sets us up for the show.”

The newest member of Celtic Woman is Tara McNeill, who replaced former violinist Máiréad Nesbitt. This talented violinist joined in August of 2016. She becomes the first multi-instrumentalist. She also plays the harp and sings with the group. Tara also graduated with honors from the Royal Irish Academy of Music. Tara has toured around the world, both as a singer and violinist. You may remember her from the 2015 Public Television special, “Destiny.” Tara accompanied the singers by playing the harp. When asked about the special chemistry of the group and exactly why it works, she answers, “I think the four of us are very keen to make Celtic Woman the best that it can possibly be. Because we each have our own strengths, there are endless possibilities as to what this group can achieve. We are also very lucky to have a special bond that means we are there for each other, always supporting and encouraging each other to be the best that we can be!”

The actual show was visually stunning. A large background screen displayed scenic pictures and clips of Ireland, showcasing its natural beauty. Anybody who has traveled to Ireland will definitely recognize many of the locations. From the ragged coastline to rolling countryside, Ireland is a land of enchantment.

The four women looked simply radiant. Their gorgeous gowns are each created by Synan O’Mahony, who is a well known Irish designer. Whether singing solo or as a group, each song is a captivating experience for the audience. The women’s voices are individually incredible. When singing together, it’s pure magic. The way they harmonize and take turns singing the main chorus is exceptional. The entire audience experience from the music and choreography to the lighting and visuals is outstanding.

The music wouldn’t be complete without an accompaniment of musical instruments. The band is top notch. With two percussionists, keyboard, harp, acoustic guitar, fiddle and even a bagpipe, the authentic Irish music comes alive. The show lasted over two hours and includes a 20 minute intermission. The show’s tempo flowed effortlessly from classic ballads to Irish dance.

Hearing the rich sounds of the iconic song “Danny Boy” was truly memorable. The beautiful hymn “Amazing Grace” was the night’s most emotional song, for sure. The group of male dancers were excellent as well. In addition, their Irish dance moves were always in sync with the music and drew numerous rounds of applause. As the women sang the final song, the crowd rose in unison for a rousing standing ovation to end a unforgettable evening of fine music and dancing.

This all-female Irish musical ensemble is incredibly talented and delivers a blockbuster show. Everyone should attend a Celtic Woman performance at least once. For many, especially with Irish heritage, it’s a “Bucket List” item. I had the honor of seeing a Shen Yun performance. The 2017 show season marks its 10th anniversary world tour. It was spectacular and truly portrays genuine Chinese culture that cannot be seen anywhere else. Shen Yun has performed in sold out theaters all around the world. From the first act to the last, it was an amazing performance.

The show was established in 2006 by a group of talented Chinese artists. Genuine Chinese culture has become a lost art in China. As a result, Chinese artists banded together to try to revive the traditions and share with the world.

The show is a blend of culture, incredible dances, musical numbers, timeless stories and also includes a live orchestra. Classical Chinese dance becomes the vessel to tell a fascinating story, covering 5,000 years of Chinese civilization. Now it becomes a way for the modern world to appreciate China’s traditional values.

One of top crowd pleasers was how Shen Yun integrated technological innovation with ancient legends. The full stage backdrops complimented each performance perfectly. The backdrops were animated, so it appeared performers were morphing both to and from the stage with the backdrop. A creative, special effects method right from Hollywood. One moment you are in the snow covered mountains for a Tibetan celebration. Next go back to a peaceful time in the grasslands with Mongolian horsemen.

The performance is broken into two main sets, with a 15 minute intermission. All of the dance segments are brilliantly choreographed. The talented dancers wear colorful, traditional Chinese costumes. These beautiful, handmade costumes add just as much importance to each routine, as the dancers themselves.

Each dance number highlights a group of very talented dancers. Their moves are graceful, effortless and always in unison. Each number was a fine balance of grace and beauty, along with incredible gymnastic tumbling moves. Classical Chinese dance has lived in for many generations via ancient theater, folk traditions, as well as imperial court performances.

Chinese culture has long been driven by Buddhist, Taoist and of course Confucian teachings. Therefore, Shen Yun has perfectly integrated those wisdoms in its show. Key virtues such as justice, loyalty and benevolence are taught and become the foundation of each Chinese person. The hope is good will be rewarded and evil actions appropriately punished.

What I enjoyed was the pace of the show. Even during the slower, artistic performances, the show had a driving energy that the audience could feel. From the stunning scenery, creative choreography and live music, Shen Yun conveyed a energetic vibe that resonated throughout the theater.

Many live theatrical shows only use soundtracks. But Shen Yun has a live orchestra and included many traditional instruments. The musical score seamlessly fitted the theme of the show. It never overpowered and never underwhelmed. The audience was introduced to traditional Chinese music that most had likely never even heard before. All of the music played is original and influenced by China’s rich history and culture.

Shen Yun also presented live singers and musical performances. Accompanied by a talented pianist, both a male and female sang beautiful numbers. In addition, a woman played an erhu. This traditional Chinese instrument has been around for over 4,000 years. Similar to a small cello, but it only has two strings. The sounds were harmonious and brilliantly played.

A male and female walk out on the stage after each number, to narrate and introduce the next act. We learn that the current Communist Party in China does not allow authentic culture to be performed. They fear this culture as a direct threat to their power. Although Shen Yun has performed in front of millions of people all around the world, it has surprisingly never been seen in China.

What was interesting to learn, was that the show’s performers are spiritually inspired by meditation and self improvement techniques. The practice is called Falun Dafa. The performers brings together both meditation and study into their daily lives. As a result, their on stage performances appear more genuine and they truly enjoy what they do.

When the name Cirque du Soleil is mentioned, people often smile and describe incredible shows with talented performances and amazing sets. Cirque du Soleil is the largest theatrical producer in the world and their latest touring show is Toruk – The First Flight.

Cirque du Soleil is headquartered in Montreal, Canada. Toruk – The First Flight is a different type of show for them. Most of their touring shows or the many running daily in Las Vegas, are heavy on acrobatics and non-stop theatrical action. Toruk – The First Flight is quite different.

Toruk – The First Flight is inspired by the blockbuster movie Avatar. Written, directed, produced, and co-edited by talented James Cameron, it was a huge worldwide phenomenon. The movie hit theaters in 2009. In fact, Avatar is still the highest grossing movie ever with about $2.782 billion in worldwide revenue.

Like the Avatar movie, Toruk – The First Flight is set on the distant moon named Pandora. The name “Toruk” is derived from the dragon-like monster featured in the touring show. Avatar was based in 22nd century Pandora, this show is set in prehistoric Pandora, about 3,000 years earlier.

“Toruk” is stunning from a visual standpoint. It’s a stunning spectacle for the senses, with over-the-tops sets and engaging, tribal music.

Living on Pandora moon are the Na’vi. These people are the animated blue creatures we will come to love. Omaticaya is local a clan and we meet both Entu and Ralu. These two characters partake in a ceremony that is part of growing up. They climb, swing and perform a dazzling rope exercise while suspended over a pseudo fire pit.

Next, we learn from a shaman from the Omatikaya tribe, that a catastrophic lava flow will destroy the Tree of Souls. This is large natural disaster that devastate everything in its path.

The mission of the small Na’vi clan and central theme of Toruk – The First Flight is to save the socially important Tree of Souls. Their journey is to find the Toruk – a gigantic, flying dragon to save Pandora. Along the way, Entu and Ralu meet a young woman named Tsyal.

Directed by talented Neilson Vignola, the show’s stage is massive and emcompasses the entire area floor. From touring mountains to lush jungles and massive waterfalls, the scenery is amazing. The show a multimedia production on steroids. Using 40 video projectors, Vignola and Cirque du Soleil created a visual masterpiece. The set’s surface area covers about 20,000-square feet.

In true Cirque du Soleil fashion, Toruk – The First Flight showcases many talented performers. In one scene, about three dozen Na’vi all perform across the arena floor in full blue bodysuits and elaborate face paint. It’s a array of running, tumbling, jumping and aerobatics. When finished, the large crowd gave a thunderous ovation.

One of my favorite scenes was when the large flood emerges. Beginning in the crowd, the overhead projectors create the illusion of moving water at as it slowly moves across the set. Crashing waves and sound effects leave the crowd in awe.

Another memorable scene was when scattered bones were put together to create the dinosaur skeleton. The characters climb and move around the skeleton, which resembles a seesaw. Using balance and nimble moves, they perform up and down the dinosaur’s vertebrae.

Furthermore, an additional hi-tech feature of the show was to integrate the audience into the performance. Therefore, you are encouraged to download a the Toruk app and join along the journey. Audience members get text message telling them what to do next. In addition, you also get access to unique backstage videos and photos.

Many of the past Cirque du Soleil shows have an circus theme with high-wire acts, trampolines and high-octane gymnastics. Toruk – The First Flight is not like that. Even with the action, the show seems to accept its slower pace. Expect the highlights to come from the visual stimulation and story line as we follow the challenging journey of Entu, Ralu and Tsyal on prehistoric Pandora.

For Avatar fans, it’s been publicized that a series of sequels will be made. Targeted for late 2018 will be part 2. James Cameron will be part of all 4 movies currently scheduled.

Blue diamonds are an extremely rare gemstone. Reading about auctions or sales of an expensive blue diamond ring have become big news in the jewelry industry. Now you have a chance to own one yourself. This spectacular diamond – “The Jane Seymour” – is named after legendary British and American actress Jane Seymour OBE.

You may be wondering what the OBE stands for after Seymour’s name. Jane was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of British Empire) in 1999 for her career work in drama. She was quite honored to have this beautiful blue diamond named after her. It’s a 2.08 carat, fancy vivid blue diamond ring in platinum, from the World Of Diamonds Group.

Blue diamonds bring big prices at auctions. There was a 10.10 carat diamond rock named the De Beers Millennium Jewel 4. This oval-shaped, fancy vivid blue diamond sold for $31.8 million to become the the most expensive gemstone ever sold at an Asia auction. In November, the 12.03 carat “Blue Moon” diamond was sold in a Sotheby’s auction to a billionaire from Hong Kong. The prices was a staggering $48.4 million. Just last month in Geneva, Switzerland, “The Oppenheimer Blue” was sold for a whopping $57.5 million. Held at a Christie’s auction, it became the most expensive diamond ever sold at an auction.

Jane wore the gorgeous ring at a formal dinner event at CÉ LA VI Singapore. The diamond ring represents the movie industry celebrity, who has won an Emmy Award and two Golden Globe Awards. Seymour also has a star on the world famous Hollywood Walk of Fame in California. The ring was the ideal complement to the elegant blue dress that she wore.

The ring was made from platinum, which is one of the premier metals in the world. The skilled craftsmen from World Of Diamonds Group in Geneva, Switzerland expertly created the ring’s flower motifs and perfect symmetry. The Jane Seymour ring was signed “W.O.D. Genève” and hallmarked “PT950.”

Jane Seymour is starring in a production by British Theatre Playhouse, titled “The Vortex” by Noel Coward. The play will be performed at Jubilee Hall Theatre inside Raffles Hotel in Singapore.

It’s been 35 long and frustrating years, but a stolen, Stradivarius violin has finally been recovered. The rare violin was stolen back in 1980 and was owned by a young, talented violinist named Roman Totenberg.

Although Phillip Johnson was a suspect right after the initial theft, the police were unable to pursue the lead due to a lack of evidence. The rare violin was taken from Totenberg’s office at Longy Music School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

After Johnson had passed away, his ex-wife and new boyfriend discovered a locked violin case while doing some housecleaning. They broke the case lock and discovered the violin. There was a label that read 1734 and was made by Antonio Stradivari, who was the most famous violin maker ever.

Sadly, Mr. Totenberg will not personally enjoy the return of the missing Stradivarius Violin since he passed away from cancer at the age of 58.

Since Mr. Totenberg had received a $250,000 insurance settlement soon after the theft, an agreement was made in a U.S, federal court that if the $250,000 was repaid, the three surviving daughters of Mr. Totenberg would receive the valuable Stradivarius violin.

It’s been reported that there are less than 650 Stradivarius violins in existence today. Like thieves trying to resell fine art, it can be be extremely difficult to sell a stolen Stradivarius violin due to its rarity. Due it’s authenticity, the recovered violin could be worth several million dollars.

I expect we may see this particular Stradivarius violin appear at a high-end, public auction where the bidding can reach atmospheric levels as avid collectors try to outbid each other to own this rare violin.

The Wizard of Oz is one of the most beloved Hollywood films ever made. But movie buffs were shocked almost ten years ago when the iconic ruby slippers worn by Judy Garland were stolen.

The famous ruby slippers were on display at the Judy Garland Museum, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Although there have been countless leads on who may have stolen the size 5 1/2 shoes, they have never been found.

Luckily, there are three other pairs in existence, including one pair at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. In addition, you will be able to see Dorothy’s ruby slippers at the The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Museum once it’s finished being constructed. This museum will become the world’s leading movie museum and will be located in Los Angeles.

If you have any information regarding the theft of the ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz, there is now a one million dollar reward. To collect from the anonymous benefactor, you must provide the exact location of the stolen slippers, plus the actual name of the thief’s name or names if more than one were involved.

When the ruby slippers were stolen in August of 2005, they were insured for $1 million. The executive director of the Judy Garland Museum is John Kelsch and he told the Associated Press he believes the shoes are now worth between two and three million dollars.

The Wizard of Oz has release in 1939 and once production finished shooting, the ruby slippers were stored in the MGM wardrobe department. The pair that was donated to the Smithsonian Museum, was found at MGM in 1970 and bought during an auction for just $15,000. What a bargain for such an amazing piece of movie history!

Sounds like after waiting and fighting with the California Coastal Commission, U2 lead guitarist The Edge has finally won the battle. He will be allowed to build 5 luxury mansions in the scenic Malibu coast off California.

The 5 luxury mansions will each range in size from 10,000 to 14,000 square feet. The properties are located in Sweetwater Mesa, in the well known Santa Monica mountains of Southern California. The Edge (his real name is David Evans) is from Ireland and originally purchased 156 acres of SoCal land back in 2005.

The years of haggling involved nearby residents of Serra Retreat who were concerned with the potential noise and traffic from potentially years of construction. In an article by the L.A. Times, both the Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl and National Park Service also raised concerns with the project.

What appears to have happened is The Edge agreed to several concessions, including a reduction in the size of the 5 luxury mansions. Additional concessions involved greater efforts related to ecological preservation. 137 acres of his total land parcel must also be dedicated to the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority.

Jack Ainsworth is the senior deputy director of the California Coastal Commission’s panel and was quoted in an interview the L.S. Times, “It would be great if there were no homes. But if you look at this project going from six total lots down to five, reconfigured and clustered, … this alternative is the least environmentally damaging and allows for reasonable economic use of the property.”

The Edge plans to build one of the 5 mansions and own it himself, along with his wife Morleigh Steinberg. It will be interesting to follow the construction process and see if further delays or legal actions takes place.

· Lobster Tacos: Mini corn tortillas are stuffed with fresh lobster meat fritters and topped with mango and papaya salsa with meyer lemon cream and spicy chili aioli.

· Texas Mule: Vdara’s traditional Moscow Mule is crafted with Tito’s vodka, fresh lime and ginger beer.
· Fashionably Late: The Old-Fashioned at VICE VERSA mixes Angel’s Envy port cask bourbon, Lustau Oloroso sherry and salted brown sugar syrup.
· Chicken Teriyaki Sliders: These delicious bites are made with pulled chicken tossed in teriyaki sauce and topped with mango, jalapenos and crispy onions.

This ultra-luxury mobile estate used on-set, comes with 3 levels was designed by R.J. Anderson of “Anderson Mobile Estates” who calls it a “skyscraper on wheels.” Don’t miss the video clip below.

The living area alone is 600 square feet and perfect for Maria Carey, hew crew and guests to have a fun time. There’s a luxurious 15 foot, custom couch, a 65 inch, Samsung 9000 TV and an awesome surround-sound system.

Mariah’s mobile estate was designed with 2 tons of marble and stone. The custom kitchen is top-notch with a custom stove-top, convection oven and even a hideaway Sub-Zero refrigerator.

After climbing the granite staircase, you arrive at the second level dance club! This space was custom lighting and a 35 foot wrap around couch. There’s enough seating for up to 35 people and be entertained with two 60 inch TVs.

Price tag for Mariah Carey’s mobile estate is $1.8 million.

What more can you say about Angelina Jolie? She’s a popular Hollywood actress and humanitarian, plus married to handsome, hunk Brad Pitt.

Jolie was just recognized in the Diplomatic Service and Overseas Birthday 2014 Honours list. Angelia was very proud to receive the honorary damehood (DCMG) from Queen Elizabeth for services to U.K. foreign policy. The award was due to her effort and campaign to end war-zone sexual violence.

The official spokesperson for Buckingam Palace was quoted, “The audience itself between Miss Jolie and the queen was private. Her Majesty presented her with the insignia in its box. Mr. Pitt and the rest of the family were introduced to the queen afterwards, however.”

It’s been a memorable last couple of months for Angelina Jolie. She finally married her long time partner Brad two as the famous couple was married in August.

The duo will be busy as they both ready to promote their upcoming, new movie releases. Brtad stars in “Fury” and Jolie was a director in the movie “Unbroken.”
